Bring your NHS experience into learning
Have you worked in the NHS and helped turn sustainability commitments into practical action? This is an opportunity to use that experience to shape relevant learning for NHS colleagues and support them as a Skills Coach.
Direct experience of working within the NHS is essential for this appointment. We will prioritise candidates who bring practical NHS sustainability, procurement or related operational experience, as this is the expertise we are looking to add to our team.

About the Role
You will help adapt our established Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner apprenticeship for NHS and healthcare learners, then coach apprentices through the programme over the long term. Development is planned from early 2027, with a proposed spring launch.
The course framework and core curriculum are already in place. Working with the Curriculum Development and Sustainability teams, you will review the content through an NHS lens, adapting examples, workplace activities and evidence opportunities while preserving the apprenticeship standard and its knowledge, skills and behaviours.
Your understanding of NHS structures, local priorities and procurement arrangements will help learners apply the programme in their own trust, integrated care board or department. The role sits within Operations and reports to the Curriculum Team Leader.
You may currently work in NHS sustainability, procurement, estates, operations or management and be ready to move into learning and coaching. We will support you to develop your apprenticeship delivery and coaching skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and adapt learning cycles, workshops, case studies and workplace activities for different NHS settings, retaining existing content where it remains relevant.
- Apply NHS sustainability, governance, budgets, commissioning and procurement knowledge to connect learning with employers’ Green Plans, contracts and improvement priorities.
- Check NHS policy references and resources for accuracy, work to editorial standards and deadlines, and share your subject expertise with colleagues and employer partners.
- Coach adult apprentices through individual learning plans, monthly one-to-one sessions and relevant workshops, adapting support to their roles and working patterns.
- Monitor progress, provide developmental feedback and hold reviews with learners and line managers every 6–8 weeks; identify barriers early and agree practical support.
- Help learners prepare for gateway and end-point assessment, maintain accurate progress and off-the-job learning records, and contribute to programme improvement.
- Follow safeguarding, Prevent, equality, inclusion, funding and quality requirements, raising concerns promptly.
Interpersonal Fit
You will bring curiosity, clear communication and an approachable manner, building credibility with NHS colleagues at every level. We value people who take ownership, collaborate with stong working relationships, welcome feedback and share our commitment to the joy of learning, sustainable patient care, quality, safeguarding and inclusion.

- Understanding of NHS structures and governance, Green Plans, the 2040 and 2045 net zero targets, climate duties under the Health and Care Act 2022 and CQC Well-led expectations on environmental sustainability.
