Assistant General Counsel – Healthcare & National Operations
Affordable Dentures & Implants | Fully Remote – Nationwide | $180,000–$200,000 Base Salary
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Affordable Dentures & Implants is seeking a business-minded, experienced Assistant General Counsel to join its established in-house legal team. This is a fully remote opportunity open to qualified attorneys nationwide.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will serve as a key legal partner and trusted advisor to executive leadership, business stakeholders, and affiliated dental practices across the organization's nationwide network.
This is a broad-based in-house counsel position offering significant autonomy, high-level business exposure, and the opportunity to advise on a diverse range of legal matters within a growing, multi-location healthcare organization.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in healthcare law, with particular experience in HIPAA, healthcare regulatory matters, data privacy, and information security. They will also provide counsel on commercial contracts, marketing and advertising compliance, digital privacy practices, and strategic business initiatives.
This individual must be comfortable independently managing complex legal matters, balancing legal and business priorities, and providing practical, solutions-oriented guidance in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Healthcare Regulatory & Compliance
- Advise executive leadership, business partners, and supported dental practitioners on healthcare regulatory matters, including HIPAA, the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), and other applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
- Provide practical legal guidance on healthcare compliance matters affecting the organization's affiliated practices and nationwide operations.
Data Privacy, Cybersecurity & Information Security
- Advise on data privacy and information security matters, including HIPAA, state consumer privacy and health data laws, incident and breach response, and vendor security diligence.
- Provide legal guidance on website and digital data collection practices, including online tracking technologies, pixels, session replay, analytics, and advertising vendors.
- Advise on cookie and consent management and the maintenance of privacy policies, notices, and terms of use.
Marketing, Advertising & Consumer Protection
- Review marketing, advertising, and promotional materials across digital, print, and other channels.
- Advise on advertising claims, pricing and financing disclosures, warranties, satisfaction guarantees, provider credentials, before-and-after imagery, and patient testimonials.
- Provide guidance on state dental advertising requirements and applicable consumer protection laws.
- Advise on Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) compliance and related state laws, including consent capture, documentation, revocation handling, do-not-call requirements, and third-party lead vendor and call center diligence.
Commercial Contracts & Corporate Matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements with affiliated practice owners, suppliers, vendors, and business partners.
- Prepare and negotiate professional services agreements, nondisclosure agreements, data processing agreements, business associate agreements, and other commercial contracts.
- Support the organization's in-house affiliations and acquisitions business unit through transaction documentation, legal review, and strategic counsel.
- Advise on corporate matters, including entity formation and related business initiatives.
Business Partnership & Legal Strategy
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the General Counsel, executive leadership, and key business stakeholders across the organization.
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice while identifying and mitigating legal and operational risks.
- Exercise sound independent judgment when navigating competing business priorities and determining when matters require escalation.
- Understand and appropriately distinguish between the legal interests of the Dental Support Organization and those of its affiliated dental practices.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate legal support as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the Legal Department to develop and maintain contract templates, contracting policies, negotiation practices, and escalation procedures.
- Support a collaborative, ethical, and solutions-oriented legal environment.
- Travel occasionally as business needs require.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.
- Ability to satisfy applicable in-house counsel registration or authorization requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Approximately 4–6+ years of relevant attorney experience, including experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on contracts, healthcare, marketing, or data privacy matters. Experience does not need to encompass every practice area.
- Substantive legal experience within the healthcare industry.
- Experience advising on healthcare regulatory matters, including HIPAA and related privacy and compliance requirements.
- Strong contract drafting, review, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.
- Ability to independently manage a diverse legal workload, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines across multiple business functions and time zones.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex legal issues in a practical, business-friendly manner.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior in-house legal experience, preferably within a healthcare organization.
- Experience supporting a multi-state or nationwide healthcare organization.
- Experience with data privacy and information security, including state privacy laws, incident response, and vendor security diligence.
- Familiarity with online tracking technologies, website pixels, analytics, advertising technology, and consent management.
- Working knowledge of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and related state requirements.
- Experience reviewing marketing and advertising materials in a regulated industry.
- Experience advising dental practices, Dental Support Organizations (DSOs), physician groups, or other multi-location healthcare organizations.
- Corporate and transactional experience, including entity formation, affiliations, and acquisitions.
- International business experience is a plus.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate is a proactive, approachable, and highly independent attorney who enjoys serving as a business partner rather than simply providing legal opinions.
They are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing a high volume of legal matters, and working directly with senior leadership and operational stakeholders. They understand the importance of balancing sound legal judgment with practical business objectives and can navigate situations involving competing priorities and differing perspectives.
This individual is collaborative, adaptable, solutions-oriented, and confident in making independent decisions while recognizing when matters require escalation or additional legal support.
COMPENSATION & WORK ARRANGEMENT
- Base Salary: $180,000–$200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Work Arrangement: Fully remote.
- Location: Open to qualified candidates anywhere in the United States.
- Bar Admission: Active license in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar, with eligibility to satisfy applicable in-house counsel registration requirements.
