St. Onge Company's Application Development team builds and maintains the internal tools our consultants and staff use every day. We're also at the center of St. Onge's AI strategy, leading the way on how the company uses AI today and how it will use AI to transform the way we work.

We're looking for an entry-level developer who's curious about AI and wants to put it to practical use. You'll use AI to build better tools faster. You'll also help lead the company's broader AI adoption by finding, evaluating, and rolling out AI tools that make engineering and administrative teams more efficient. You'll help shape how St. Onge approaches AI, from which tools we adopt to how teams across the company put them to use.

This role suits someone who likes building things, figuring out which problems are worth solving, and helping create something new.

What You'll Do

AI Discovery and Implementation

  • Contribute to the company's AI efforts by sharing ideas, defining processes, setting priorities, documenting best practices, and becoming a go-to resource for AI questions across the company.
  • Research and evaluate AI tools, models, and platforms against real business needs, and recommend what to adopt, pilot, or skip.
  • Build proofs of concept and production integrations that bring AI into existing workflows, including LLM-powered features, document processing, and automation.
  • Work with engineering and administrative teams across the company to find repetitive or time-consuming work that AI can reduce.
  • Build and extend AI-powered automations and solutions within Microsoft 365, including Copilot, Copilot Studio, Copilot Cowork, SharePoint, Power Automate, and Teams.
  • Help roll out AI tools company-wide, including setup, documentation, training materials, and hands-on support.
  • Track adoption and impact so we know what's actually working.
  • Follow data security, privacy, and responsible-use practices, especially when client data is involved.

Application Development

  • Develop and maintain features in our internal web platform, built with React, Node.js/Express, and Django.
  • Write and optimize SQL Server queries and stored procedures, including work against our ERP data.
  • Help research the future of our database strategy, including whether to move to the cloud or stay on-premises.
  • Help with deployments, testing, and troubleshooting in an IIS-hosted, Azure AD-authenticated environment.
  • Support reporting needs in Power BI where AI or automation can help.

What We're Looking For Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Working knowledge of at least one modern programming language, such as JavaScript/TypeScript or Python, plus some exposure to web frameworks like React, Node.js, or Django through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Basic SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, and Power Automate.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools such as LLM chat assistants, coding assistants, or AI APIs, and genuine interest in how they can be applied at work.
  • Clear communication skills. You'll be explaining technical ideas to non-technical colleagues.
  • Willingness to learn quickly and work independently on open-ended problems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience calling LLM APIs, writing prompts for production use, or building simple agents or automations.
  • Experience building Power Automate flows, Power Apps, or SharePoint solutions, or working with Microsoft Copilot or Copilot Studio.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, Azure and Azure AD, or IIS.
  • Exposure to Power BI and DAX.
  • Experience with other modern languages such as C# or Go.
  • Git and basic CI/CD experience.
  • Interest in supply chain, logistics, or consulting.

Why Join Us

  • Play a hands-on role in shaping how AI is used across the company, now and in the years ahead.
  • A small team where you'll get real ownership early and close mentorship.
  • A front-row seat to applying AI in a practical, results-driven consulting environment.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Typical hours: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm
  • Physical requirements: St Onge Company operates both hybrid and remote office options. Projects may entail lifting materials up to 20 lbs.
  • Travel: Less than 10% annually
