The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, growth-focused design role for an early-career designer who wants to learn how great kitchen product gets made and sold at scale. You'll support the design of hard kitchen categories - cookware, bakeware, decorative kitchenware, GCLH (Garment, Closet, Laundry & Hangers) as well as luggage; across multiple Walmart private label home brands and help carry that work through supplier development to finished product.
Roughly 60% of your time will go to design execution: concept sketches, product and decoration artwork, CADs, trend boards, spec sheets and presentation decks. The other 40% will go to supplier support: preparing design packages, tracking samples, documenting feedback, and joining design reviews alongside senior designers.
As workload ebbs and flows, this designer may also support kitchen textiles and the broader home team. This role reports to the Senior Designer.
What You'll Do
- Create concepts, sketches, product and decoration artwork for cookware, bakeware, GCLH and luggage, under the direction of senior designers.
- Turn approved concepts into clean, production-ready files: CADs, artwork, color callouts, spec sheets and tech packs for suppliers.
- Support supplier co-creation by preparing design packages, sending direction, and tracking renderings, strike-offs and samples through each round.
- Join sample and design reviews, take clear notes, and help write redlines and feedback for suppliers.
- Partner with the Product Development team in Bentonville to keep briefs, files and timelines organized and up to date.
- Attend alignment meetings and line reviews with the Walmart team, help build presentation decks, and present your own work as you grow.
- Research trends, competitors, materials and decoration techniques, and build trend and mood boards that inform seasonal direction.
- Help keep brand continuity across multiple Walmart private label home brands, including coordination with kitchen textiles.
- Support kitchen textiles and other home categories as needed.
Who You Are
- Passionate about cookware, bakeware, GCLH and luggage, with a sharp eye for color, form, pattern and what's brand-right versus merely trendy.
- Eager to learn how product is manufactured, costed and sold at mass-market price points.
- A clear communicator who can explain your design thinking and take feedback well.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; you keep files, samples and follow-ups on track without being reminded.
- Proactive and curious; you bring ideas to the table and ask good questions.
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapts easily as priorities shift.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Ceramics, Surface or Textile Design, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of professional experience in product or surface design; internships or co-ops in housewares, tabletop or home are a plus.
- A portfolio showing strong design skills, ideally including kitchen, tabletop or home product.
- Basic understanding of hard kitchen materials and decoration methods, such as ceramics, glass, plastics, metal, decals, glazes and printing, or a strong eagerness to learn them.
- Interest in or exposure to kitchen textiles is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and PowerPoint for presentations. InDesign is a plus.
- 3D modeling and rendering skills (Rhino, SolidWorks or KeyShot) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to Bentonville, supplier factories and trade shows.
