About the Opportunity
Our EnergyCo NSW Commercial Branch is seeking to appoint two Associate Directors Commercial to lead related but distinct areas of commercial practice across Renewable Energy Zones and priority projects. Both roles will work with senior decision-makers, multidisciplinary project teams and industry partners to strengthen commercial outcomes across EnergyCo’s major infrastructure projects portfolio. This portfolio consists of multiple-billions of dollars of capital works in the energy renewable sector. Both roles will be part of the centralised Commercial team as well as working closely with Project development and delivery teams (as appropriate) and key stakeholders such as the Australian Energy Regulator.
Associate Director Commercial - Claims: Lead the claims function across major infrastructure projects, shaping how complex commercial and contractual matters in delivery are assessed and resolved. You will oversee claims from network operators, contractors and service providers, including extensions of time and additional cost; establish practical claims policies and procedures; lead dispute resolution processes; and provide trusted advice on high-value, sensitive and potentially contentious matters.
Associate Director Commercial - Project Development and Delivery: Lead commercial strategy across major infrastructure projects in development and delivery. You will develop commercial models and strategies, lead commercial structuring and risk activities, support negotiations with network operators, contractors and service providers, and build an enterprise knowledge base for commercial risk positions while ensuring commercial structures reflect the relevant regulatory framework.
About You
Associate Director Commercial - Claims: you will bring substantial experience leading complex claims and disputes resolution in major infrastructure, construction, and/or energy. You can assess contractual entitlement, evidence, time and cost impacts and risk, then translate detailed analysis into clear commercial advice, recommendations and justified decisions taking into account the regulatory framework. You can negotiate with tier 1 network operators, contractors and consultants and interact and communicate with broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Associate Director Commercial - Project Development and Delivery: you will bring strong commercial acumen and experience of developing or delivering significant major infrastructure projects in a complex regulatory environment. You can consider commercial, risk, financial, regulatory, technical, and social factors together and provide clear advice on commercial models, risk allocation and delivery options. You are able to co-ordinate with senior Commercial advisers from the various infrastructure projects in order to harmonise commercial positions, maximise precedent positions and leverage positions across projects. You are able to set up and maintain commercial knowledge systems and work across disciplines and with various internal and external stakeholders.
Across either role, you will be an influential and collaborative leader who builds trusted relationships, communicates complex issues clearly and exercises sound judgement under scrutiny. Experience in coaching staff and building team capability will be highly regarded.
