Enterprise Systems is the backbone of GSK’s internal operations in Digital & Tech, enabling GSK Global Functions teams such as Finance, Procurement, HR, Legal, Compliance, WREF, CGA and Corporate Secretariat to run seamlessly. This team designs and delivers cutting-edge digital platforms that power critical processes, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and scalability across the enterprise.
Enterprise Systems Management & Business Operations delivers digital solutions that support Enterprise Systems running as a high-performing organisation. This team drives financial discipline, operational rigour and strategic alignment across the ES portfolio that safeguard GSK’s integrity and reputation globally. By joining this team, you’ll help shape systems that support thousands of employees worldwide, driving innovation and reliability in the tools that keep GSK moving forward.
Job Purpose:
The Associate Director Historian and Visualizations responsible for the lifecycle, reliability and evolution of the AspenTech IP.21 historian, A1PE and visualization platform. The role keeps the platform current, secure and easy to use, while enabling manufacturing teams to access trusted process data and insights.
Working with manufacturing sites, Product Owners, Architects, Infrastructure, Validation, Cyber Security, vendors and delivery partners, the role co-creates the product vision and value case with the business, defines expected business outcomes and how user adoption and trusted-data benefits will be measured, sets the platform roadmap, leads upgrades and improvements, and coordinates delivery. The focus is on a stable, compliant and sustainable global platform rather than developing bespoke local solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Own the IP.21 historian, A1PE and visualization platform roadmap, lifecycle plan and technical priorities.
· Plan and coordinate platform upgrades, patches, infrastructure changes and adoption of useful vendor capabilities.
· Work with manufacturing sites and Product Owners to understand common needs and translate them into scalable platform improvements.
· Partner with Architecture, Infrastructure, Cloud and Cyber Security teams to ensure the platform is secure, resilient, supportable and aligned with enterprise standards.
· Coordinate validation and change activities with Computer System Validation and Quality teams in line with GxP and GAMP expectations.
· Act as the key platform contact for AspenTech, delivery partners and contractors, ensuring quality delivery, clear documentation and knowledge transfer.
· Promote common standards for historian configuration, data access, visualization and platform monitoring across sites.
· Manage platform risks, obsolescence, technical debt, service issues and dependencies, escalating material decisions when required.
· Track platform health, usage, reliability and upgrade progress; measure value for manufacturing teams, for example data-access adoption and time to insight; validate the value of a change before scaling it; and use these insights to guide priorities.
· Support continuous improvement of manufacturing data access and visualization while avoiding unnecessary customisation.
· Co-create the product vision and value case with the business, including the expected business outcomes and how user adoption will be measured.
· Lead your team in using approved AI tools to improve productivity and ways of working, role-modelling responsible use and following GSK’s Responsible AI, privacy and security requirements.
· Coach site and product-team peers in historian and visualization practice.
Basic Requirements:
Education & Professional Qualifications:
· Bachelors in engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
· Industrial historians and manufacturing data platforms, preferably AspenTech IP.21 and A1PE
· Process data visualization, reporting and data access
· Platform lifecycle management, upgrades and vendor coordination
· GxP computerised systems, validation and change control
· Enterprise infrastructure, integrations, security, monitoring and service management
· Typically 7+ years of experience in industrial data, historian, manufacturing technology, automation or platform delivery.
· Experience leading upgrades or lifecycle activities in a regulated or controlled environment.
· Experience working with manufacturing stakeholders, infrastructure teams, vendors and external delivery partners.
· Ability to manage technical priorities, risks and delivery across a global matrix organisation.
· Experience using approved AI tools to improve productivity and ways of working, with an understanding of responsible AI, privacy and security requirements.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree in engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
· Relevant training or certifications in AspenTech technologies, GAMP, computer system validation, ITIL or cloud platforms are desirable.
· Practical experience with an industrial historian or manufacturing data platform; AspenTech IP.21 and A1PE experience is strongly preferred.
