The Associate Director oversees a team of fund accounting professionals ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality delivery of client reporting and fund administration services to our real asset clients. They are the primary client contact, responsible for managing timelines, deliverables, and team performance while supporting resource planning and staff development.
- Ensure standard procedures and controls are followed across assigned real estate fund(s) and client deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance on challenging transactions and review related accounting entries.
- Review NAV packages and key deliverables; provide detailed feedback and approvals before release to clients.
- Lead daily/weekly planning meetings to allocate work, manage priorities and remove blockers.
- Maintain the client reporting calendar and service standards; flag resourcing or timing risks early with proposed solutions.
- Serve as a point of contact for escalated client questions; participate in client and third-party meetings as needed.
- Support system configuration and reporting design in Yardi and related tools; partner with technology teams to improve data quality and outputs.
- Support onboarding of new funds by reviewing fund documents, reconciliations and system setups prior to go-live.
- Coach and train staff; identify development needs and ensure ongoing system/process training.
- Drive practical process improvements while maintaining a strong risk and control mindset.
Education Requirements
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred or in progress
Professional Experience
- 6+ years' experience working in the fund administration industry or audit
- Strong understanding of real asset structures (Property, REIT, SPV, JV, Co-Invest)
- Proficient with Yardi or other accounting software
- Experience reviewing the work of other accountants and supporting junior team members
