The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo NSW) is spearheading the State’s transition to renewable and affordable electricity for the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations retire.

About the Opportunity

Our EnergyCo NSW Commercial, Regulatory & Markets team is seeking an Associate Director Policy & Regulatory. The role leads and coordinates specialist policy and regulatory strategy to deliver NSW's largest clean energy infrastructure projects, meet EnergyCo’s statutory functions and objectives, and secure EnergyCo’s policy, legislative and regulatory priorities.

You will lead a specialist team to translate strategy into policy outcomes, regulatory frameworks and practical implementation solutions. Working across EnergyCo, government, regulators, market bodies and industry, you will drive complex advice, remove regulatory barriers, manage strategic risks, and support approval, funding, cost recovery and implementation pathways. You will also prepare high-profile Cabinet, Ministerial, Board, executive and regulatory submissions and briefings.

As a senior leader at EnergyCo, you will shape and influence NSW’s energy transition through our policy and regulatory agenda by leveraging organisational insights, lessons learned and evidence-based decision making.

About You

You are a highly regarded policy and regulatory leader with experience delivering complex policy, legislative, and regulatory projects in an infrastructure delivery context in politically sensitive and commercially significant environments. You bring strong experience with strategic government policy and regulation in energy or comparable infrastructure contexts relevant to major network, generation and storage projects, ideally the National Energy Rules and Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020 frameworks.

You excel at navigating complex legal, policy, financial, commercial, technical and stakeholder issues and turning them into clear, pragmatic advice that drives decisions and delivers results. You build credibility quickly, can influence diverse stakeholders and lead negotiations with confidence across government agencies, regulators, market bodies, industry and project teams.

You are also a capable and inspiring people leader who sets clear priorities, develops high-performing teams, assures the quality of complex outputs, and maintains delivery excellence in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. You are comfortable operating in complex, fast-moving environments where priorities may shift and project parameters are still being defined. You bring resilience, sound judgement and a collaborative mindset, contributing to a constructive team culture while bringing stakeholders together to navigate challenges and achieve outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in law, economics, public policy or a related discipline, and/ or demonstrated equivalent experience.
