Job Purpose:

Sr. Manager / Associate Director, Pricing & Contracting is responsible for being an integral cross-functional partner in developing and executing contracting strategies in the Oncology/Hospital Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), Wholesaler/Distributor, Commercial/Medicare Payor, and Government customer segments that are both customer focused and maximize business potential and support the following account teams:

  • IDN/GPO Account Directors
  • Payor Account Team
  • Key Account Managers (KAMs)

Sr. Manager / Associate Director will also be responsible for:

  • Developing contracting strategies that are customer focused while maximizing net sales
  • Modelling impact of contracting strategies on the government discount liability
  • Negotiating contractual terms and conditions directly with customers
  • Working with Legal to develop relevant contract language
  • Developing pricing strategies and calculate impact on government filings
  • Forecasting the gross to net impact of pricing and contracting strategies throughout the planning period
  • Work with Legal and Market Access management to determine financial impact of proposed pricing and government filing legislation

Functional Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Partner with Marketing, IDN/GPO/Payor Account Teams, and KAM Team to ensure contracting strategies in the Oncology and Hospital GPO markets are patient/customer focused while maximizing net sales
  • Work with IDN, GPO, Payor and KAM teams to develop contracting value proposition and communicate to customers. Calculate and maintain quarterly price/rebate adjustments based on the current strategy and manage notifications to contracted customers and internal stakeholders within agreed upon timeframes
  • Develop and execute Wholesaler/Distribution contracting strategies that meet company objectives and maximize net sales, while maintaining legal and compliance integrity
  • Work with payor account team to develop payor contracting strategies that drive optimal reimbursement/formulary status while maximizing net sales
  • Work with IDN and KAM teams to develop and execute direct price concession and direct distribution strategies. Manage the process to redline and execute agreements with individual accounts then load pricing, as appropriate
  • Work with Legal to develop contract language for all Market Access price concession and service fee contracts that support business objectives of field teams
  • Work with Government Pricing to determine the liability in the government markets associated with contracting strategies
  • Model and analyze various contract strategies and price points to determine the impact to GTN, ASP, Best Price, net sales, and 340B liability for future quarters. Develop presentations to leadership around objectives, financial impacts, and pros/cons of the various strategies
  • Provide Finance with projected Gross to Net rates for the current reporting quarter and well as for each quarter in the planning period. Work closely with Finance and Decision Support on GTN annual and mid-year budget models
  • Support biannual audits of Finance systems and processes, including a detailed review of GTN forecasts and calculations

Policies, Procedures & Compliance

  • Comply with all Corporate Policies as well as mandated government regulations
  • Stay current with and adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Strictly adhere to administrative requirements as directed by SVP, Market Access
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Professional Background:

  • BS/BA degree required; MBA preferred
  • Proven quantitative skill set required
  • Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical Market Access experience preferred
  • Buy-and-bill OR Hematology/Oncology experience required; Buy-and-bill AND Hematology/Oncology experience preferred
  • Knowledge of managed care, reimbursement, and experience in developing pricing strategies required
  • Understanding of government pricing calculations preferred
  • Hospital and GPO contracting experience preferred including experience with evaluating contracting opportunities from a profitability perspective

The duties and responsibilities of all roles at Pharmacosmos can evolve over time. Reasonable flexibility is a key part of any job at Pharmacosmos. Significant variations in duties and responsibilities should be discussed between the Sr. Manager / Associate Director and SVP, Market Access.

Additional information:

  • Requires budgetary responsibilities and discretion with confidential data
  • Travelling – approximately 10 - 20% of the time
  • This position is eligible for Cash Bonus
