Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.
As AD, Service & Topology Engineering, you will lead the engineering and evolution of Optus’ enterprise service topology and dependency capability. You will provide the trusted operational context needed to understand how customer services, network resources, platforms and applications are related and impacted, and you will own the strategy, standards and models that keep that view accurate and reusable across service assurance, Operational Intelligence, AI and automation. Working across Network Operations, Engineering, OSS, Operational Data and Architecture, you will drive end-to-end service visibility, faster root cause analysis and accurate customer and business impact assessment.
What You’ll Do
- Own and evolve the cross-domain service and topology engineering strategy and capability roadmap across Network Operations.
- Lead the engineering and lifecycle management of enterprise service topology models across network, cloud, application and service domains.
- Establish reusable patterns for service inventory relationships, dynamic topology synchronisation and customer service mapping.
- Lead the engineering of cross-domain dependency models linking customer services, network resources, platforms and applications.
- Develop and govern service impact and failure-propagation models that support accurate impact assessment, prioritisation and root cause analysis.
- Establish and govern topology accuracy, relationship integrity, metadata and engineering standards, aligned with enterprise architecture, security and data governance.
- Drive service and topology capabilities from engineering through validation into sustained production use, with clear ownership and measures of coverage, accuracy and cost.
- Influence senior stakeholders on model priorities, topology standards and investment decisions, while managing strategic technology and delivery partners.
- Build and lead a high-performing service and topology engineering capability, developing people through coaching and structured knowledge transfer.
What makes you perfect for the role?
- Extensive leadership experience across telecommunications, service assurance, topology engineering, OSS, inventory or large-scale technology environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale service modelling, topology, inventory or dependency engineering across complex operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of service topology, inventory relationships, dependency modelling, service impact analysis, APIs and dynamic synchronisation patterns.
- Strong understanding of network and service architectures and the role of topology in service assurance, analytics, AI and automation.
- Proven ability to define capability strategy, engineering standards and roadmaps, and translate them into measurable operational outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-domain teams, influence senior stakeholders and explain complex service and topology concepts clearly.
- Strong commercial, financial and vendor management capability, including investment prioritisation and value realisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Technology or equivalent significant industry experience.
