Associate Director, Social Strategy (Pharma)
Summary
Lead social strategy and content creation for leading pharma brands, working collaboratively with Brand and Engagement Strategy, Account, and Creative teams. You'll guide the development of connected social media experiences for consumer/patient and HCP audiences, translating audience insight and platform savvy into engaging content that drives desired behaviors and measurable business impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive social strategies defining when, where, and how brands should connect with patients and HCPs across channels (Meta, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube, as well as HCP platforms like Sermo and Doximity)
- Create social media concept briefs, decks, and tactical guides reflecting paid strategies and platform specifications
- Manage Business Manager accounts across social platforms, enabling team members to mockup, stage, and test ad creative in a controlled environment
- Analyze audience behavior on social media across devices, platforms, and content types to inform creative experience and design
- Identify cultural and social trends that break through clutter and resonate with target audiences
- Conduct ongoing social listening analysis to uncover insights that drive strategic planning and communications
- Serve as the agency's social media expert, guiding best practices, and communicating evolving platform capabilities to clients
- Maintain active relationships with platform representatives to stay current on product updates and opportunities to inform creative teams of changes to requirements and trends
- Mentor junior strategists and elevate department output quality
- Contribute to new business pitches and thought leadership initiatives
Qualifications
- 5+ years in social media marketing, including 3+ years in pharma/healthcare agency setting (DTC experience required, Oncology experience preferred)
- Proven ability to build trust and influence with clients while fostering cross-functional collaboration
- Strong grasp of social media platform mechanics and ability to manage Business Manager accounts for ad staging
- Experience with social listening tools required (Brandwatch or Pulsar preferred)
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects on deadline
