Reporting to the Director, Social Media & Community Growth Strategy and working closely with the Manager, Social Media Content, the Associate Manager will bring content and community together, finding creative ways to spark conversation, extend the reach and impact of social content, and build momentum around books and authors. The role will also collaborate with publisher marketing teams to identify cross-promotion opportunities, coordinate seasonal social plans, and amplify priority titles and campaigns through thoughtful community engagement. What You'll Do: Lead day-to-day community management across Macmillan Publishers and Fablelistik Editions branded social channels, cultivating distinct, engaging voices for each and building meaningful connections with readers, authors, creators, and partners through authentic, real-time conversations that spark dialogue and strengthen community. Develop and grow each social community with clear goals around engagement, retention, follower growth, and conversion, aligning activity with campaign priorities and community insights. Collaborate closely with the Manager, Social Media Content to ensure content and community strategies work together to amplify campaigns, storytelling, and engagement across platforms. Develop and execute community engagement plans with publisher marketing teams and Corporate Communications, coordinating cross-promotion and social collaborations around major publishing moments, events, and seasonal opportunities to amplify reach and visibility. Co-manage content calendars, incorporating key seasonal moments, major book-buying opportunities, and frontlist support strategies to drive visibility and engagement. Create social content for select community-driven opportunities as needed. Bring community insights into broader CIMA initiatives, supporting social commerce and paid social engagement and sharing community response and sentiment to inform campaign strategy. Use social listening and analytics tools to track sentiment, community behavior, engagement, and growth against global KPIs, translating key learnings into recommendations for social strategy and campaign planning. Stay current on evolving community behaviors and platform engagement practices, bringing creative, data-informed recommendations that strengthen community strategy. What You'll Bring: Proven success managing real-time engagement and growing social communities, particularly on TikTok and Instagram, with a strong understanding of community behavior and platform dynamics. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain distinct brand voices, adapting tone and messaging across different social communities and contexts. Experience using social listening, analytics, and management tools (e.g., Sprinklr, Meltwater, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or equivalent), with the ability to analyze engagement, sentiment, and community behavior and translate findings into actionable recommendations. Familiarity with AI and automation tools that enhance social listening, community management, and engagement analysis. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, seasonal campaigns, and fast-moving social conversations. A creative, empathetic communicator with sharp editorial instincts and a strong understanding of fandoms, reader communities, and the conversations that shape them. Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally and building strong relationships across teams. On the pulse of the evolving social media landscape, with a strong understanding of emerging platforms, technologies, and changing community behaviors. Genuine passion for books, fandoms, and the intersection of reading and social media. 3–4 years of experience in social media marketing, with demonstrated hands-on experience in community management, ideally within publishing, entertainment, lifestyle, or a creative consumer brand.
