About Child Mind Institute
We're dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders by giving them the help they need. We've become the leading independent nonprofit in children's mental health by providing gold-standard evidence-based care, delivering educational resources to millions of families each year, training educators in underserved communities, and developing tomorrow's breakthrough treatments.
Position Details:
As part of the ADHD & Behavioral Disorders Center team, you will report to Associate Director. You will receive advanced, structured clinical training in an innovative practice setting, with an emphasis on accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. You will work closely with children, parents, and teachers using interventions such as Parent Management Training (PMT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). In addition to providing school consultation throughout the NY metro area, you will participate in community outreach and receive specialized training in behavioral caregiver interventions. Your clinical experiences may also include programs like the Attention and Behavior Success Program (with both an intensive summer group treatment and academic year one-day booster session), the 1-day intensive BEST program, and pilot initiatives focused on intensive behavioral parent training. This is an exempt, full-time, hybrid (this position requires a minimum of four (4) days per week in the office, on a schedule determined by your supervisor) in our NYC headquarters office or other relevant location. The in-office requirement and schedule are subject to change based on the needs of the program and the organization.
You Will:
- Conduct semi-structured clinical diagnostic assessments and write diagnostic assessment reports.
- Provide evidenced based treatment including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral parent training (e.g., Parent Management Training (PMT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
- Provide school consultations for patients and families as appropriate.
- Complete diagnostic evaluation notes, progress notes, and other clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide supervision to other trainees under the umbrella supervision of a licensed psychologist.
- Collaborate with our board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists on cases requiring pharmacotherapy.
- Participate in supervision, educational didactics, case conferences, team meetings and lecture series.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
You Have:
- Completed PhD or PsyD from a graduate program in clinical, counseling, school-clinical, or school psychology.
- The doctoral degree above must be conferred approximately six weeks prior to beginning the position.
- Limited Permit to practice psychology in NY State.
- Completion of doctoral internship.
