Position Summary Under the direction of the AVP HRS Publications, Sr. Managing Editor, of the Heart Rhythm Society Journals, the Publications Associate assists with the review process of manuscripts, including light editing of letters of disposition, proofreading correspondence, corresponding with authors, readers, and reviewers, maintaining quality of journal content and speed of review process and time-to- publication, and other special projects. Responsibilities Assist with Editorial Workflow of Manuscript Submissions Performs initial quality check per checklist and follows up by e-mail or telephone with authors, Associate Editors, and reviewers regarding overdue tasks or assignments Assists authors with uploading manuscripts if requested and assists with responding to queries from authors seeking information regarding manuscripts undergoing review Handles incoming and outgoing correspondence relating to manuscript review Ensures that signed conflict of interest forms are received for all submissions Assists with handling special projects, unique manuscript types, and special reports Online Content Management Handles light content management of online journal web pages, and some social networking Assists with Editorial Meetings and Editorial Board Meetings Assists Journal/Publications Staff with preparations, with Zoom/conference calls, Video Interviews, and other Editors’ meetings. Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Required Education and/or Experience Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience working with peer-reviewed scientific journals, working in a non-profit/medical society a plus. Computer/System Skills: proficient with Editorial Manager (or similar manuscript/peer-review workflow management system) a plus.
