ASSOCIATE RECRUITER – IT & PROFESSIONAL STAFFING

Competitive. Curious. Driven. Build a career in professional recruiting.

Bloomfield Hills, MI | Full-time | Hybrid | Early Career

Walker Healthforce is a nationally recognized staffing and consulting firm specializing in healthcare technology, business operations, analytics, and professional services. We partner with leading healthcare organizations nationwide, connecting skilled professionals with meaningful career opportunities. Our specialized focus offers recruiters opportunities to develop expertise in high-demand technology and professional staffing disciplines, rather than traditional clinical or travel nurse staffing.
We are seeking an ambitious, motivated Associate Recruiter who wants to develop the skills to become a successful professional recruiter. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives on measurable goals, learns quickly, and takes pride in achieving results.

This is not a traditional corporate HR position. It is a fast-paced, performance-driven recruiting role requiring initiative, persistence, strong communication, organization, and a willingness to learn. No prior recruiting experience is required.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn to develop effective sourcing strategies to identify and engage qualified candidates, including individuals who are not actively seeking new opportunities.
  • Use Bullhorn, AI-enabled recruiting tools, LinkedIn, job boards, professional networks, referrals, and direct outreach to build candidate pipelines.
  • Evaluate AI-recommended candidates critically, validating skills, experience, qualifications, compensation expectations, availability, and interest.
  • Conduct structured candidate screens to understand professional backgrounds, accomplishments, motivations, career goals, and potential concerns.
  • Build candidate relationships through engaging communication, thoughtful questions, and consistent follow-through.
  • Develop the ability to communicate opportunities persuasively, address candidate concerns, and maintain engagement throughout the recruiting process.
  • Prepare accurate candidate summaries and maintain organized, timely records in Bullhorn.
  • Support interview preparation, candidate follow-up, and coordination through the hiring process.
  • Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership of assigned recruiting activities.
  • Work closely with experienced recruiters and account managers, using coaching, feedback, and performance metrics to improve sourcing effectiveness, candidate quality, and conversion.

What We’re Looking For

  • Zero to two years of professional experience. Recent graduates and candidates transitioning from other fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong personal drive, initiative, and a desire to achieve measurable results.
  • A competitive mindset, persistence, and the ability to stay motivated when facing challenges or rejection.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and the ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to learn unfamiliar concepts, industries, and technologies quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and consistent follow-through.
  • Resourcefulness and the willingness to take initiative, solve problems, and find answers independently.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with clear performance expectations, frequent outreach, and changing priorities.
  • Interest in using technology, including AI-enabled tools, to improve productivity and results.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience that translates well:

We welcome candidates from backgrounds that demonstrate achievement, initiative, communication, and relationship-building skills, including:

  • Sales, business development, or customer service.
  • Hospitality or other fast-paced, customer-facing roles.
  • Athletics, competitive activities, or team leadership.
  • Fundraising, admissions, or campus leadership.
  • Internships, entrepreneurial activities, or other achievement-oriented experiences.

Prior staffing or recruiting experience is not required. We place greater value on demonstrated potential, motivation, learning ability, and the willingness to work towards challenging goals.

Training and Career Growth

You will receive structured training and coaching in professional recruiting, including sourcing strategies, candidate qualification, relationship-building, Bullhorn, AI-enabled recruiting tools, and recruiting performance metrics.
As your skills develop, you will take on increasing responsibility for candidate engagement, recruiting strategy, interview coordination, and placement outcomes.

The Associate Recruiter role is designed as an entry point into a long-term recruiting career. Associates who demonstrate strong sourcing ability, candidate quality, conversion, consistent execution, and closing readiness may advance into full-cycle Recruiter – IT & Professional Staffing responsibilities with greater placement ownership and earning potential.

What Success Looks Like Success is measured by your ability to learn, execute consistently, and produce increasingly strong recruiting results—not simply by the number of calls or messages you send.

Successful Associate Recruiters demonstrate:
  • Sourcing ability: Learning to identify and engage qualified candidates through multiple channels.
  • Candidate judgment: Recognizing strong qualifications and accurately assessing candidate fit.
  • Communication and persuasion: Building trust, generating interest, and maintaining candidate engagement.
  • Drive and persistence: Taking initiative, pursuing goals, and responding constructively to setbacks.
  • Learning agility: Applying feedback, mastering new tools, and improving performance quickly.
  • Organization and accountability: Managing priorities, maintaining accurate records, and following through on commitments.
  • Progress toward placements: Contributing increasingly qualified candidates and improving recruiting conversion.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base compensation with performance-based earning opportunity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and retirement benefits.
  • Disability coverage and professional development opportunities.
  • Structured training and opportunities to advance into full-cycle recruiting positions with increased earning potential.
