Job Description
Just imagine turning legacy data into reliable building blocks that teams across the LEGO® Group can use. Then make it real.
About the role
As our (Associate) Software Engineer – Data Migration, you’ll help more teams use the LEGO® Data Platform to build scalable, high-quality data solutions. You’ll get hands-on with engineering while learning from experienced colleagues and sharing discoveries along the way. And you’ll explore how creativity and artificial intelligence can make migrations simpler, smarter and quicker.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Python and SQL, including working with data and writing queries
- Familiarity with version control tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with common data formats such as JSON, CSV and Parquet.
- Understanding of continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) and automated testing.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Exposure to a cloud data platform such as Databricks or Snowflake.
- Exposure to Apache Spark or PySpark for distributed processing of large datasets.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
What you'll build
- Help product teams migrate from legacy technologies to the LEGO Data Platform.
- Pair with colleagues to improve platform adoption and engineering quality.
- Propose sustainable practices that help our team and other digital product teams scale.
- Create dependable data solutions for business areas with different levels of technical experience.
- Enable teams to use platform capabilities with greater autonomy and confidence.
- Become a trusted technical specialist in the platform architecture and practices endorsed by the Data Office.
- Experiment with artificial intelligence to improve and accelerate migration work.
If you’ve worked in a role where you built data solutions using Python and SQL, you’ll feel at home here. Experience with GitHub or equivalent version-control tooling will give you another useful piece of the puzzle. What matters most is your willingness to learn by doing, build alongside others and turn ideas into practical solutions.
Life on the team
You’ll join Data Office, Migration and Delivery. We’re increasing adoption of LEGO Nexus, enabling legacy platforms to be retired and supporting one reliable source of data. The team works with ownership, curiosity and critical thinking through regular stand-ups, planning and knowledge sharing. We value open communication, experimentation and collective problem-solving. Our hybrid rhythm averages three days each week collaborating in the office. You’ll bring critical thinking, curiosity and a growth mindset to a team that values trust, shared ownership and learning together. There’s no fixed mould for how you grow here.
What success looks like
You’ll steadily master the platform, its tools and the practices supported by the Data Office. Over the next 12 to 18 months, we’ll accelerate legacy migrations, improve the developer experience and strengthen data quality, governance and ownership. You’ll work closely with engineers, technical leads, product managers, business data teams, platform developers and data-governance specialists.
