Overview The Assurance Lead (AML) is responsible for independently testing and evaluating the effectiveness of Dabble’s global AML/CTF control environment, providing assurance that obligations under the AML/CTF Act and associated Rules are being met in practice, not just in policy. Reporting to the Senior Risk & Compliance Assurance Manager, this role documents and tests the design and operating effectiveness of AML/CTF controls and identifies emerging financial crime risks across multiple jurisdictions (including Australia, UK and US and other jurisdictions as required), providing credible, evidence-based reporting to the AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO) and senior management. This role offers broad, hands-on exposure across the full scope of AML Assurance activity, with key stakeholders including the Senior Risk & Compliance Assurance Manager, the AMLCO, Customer Intelligence and Customer Operations. Primary Location Melbourne is our preferred location for this role, however we are also open to candidates based in Brisbane. Responsibilities Design and execute the annual risk-based AML/CTF assurance testing plan, testing controls for both design and operating effectiveness Document and assess whether controls meet the requirements of relevant regulatory frameworks (including but not limited to Australia, UK and US) Provide subject matter input into the design of new or enhanced controls, including preventive and detective control uplift Prepare clear, evidence-based reporting on testing outcomes and findings for the Senior Risk & Compliance Assurance Manager, AMLCO and relevant internal governance committees Build and maintain effective working relationships with control owners, first line teams, internal audit and, where relevant, external auditors and regulators Communicate testing results directly to control owners, constructively challenging findings and influencing remediation and control improvement Track identified issues and remediation actions through to closure, validating that any corrective actions are effective and address root cause Monitor regulatory developments, guidance and enforcement trends across relevant jurisdictions (e.g. AUSTRAC, FinCEN, FCA, UKGC) and formally reassess testing focus areas at least quarterly to reflect emerging risk indicators Prepare responses to regulator information requests and support audit readiness activities, including evidence collation and control walkthroughs, within agreed response deadlines Extend assurance coverage to non-AML/CTF compliance obligations across Australia, the UK and the US where directed by the Senior Risk & Compliance Assurance Manager, applying the same testing and reporting standards Skills & Qualifications Professional certification such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or equivalent Minimum 5 years' experience in financial crime compliance or assurance, with demonstrated exposure to AML/CTF control testing Experience working in online wagering or a gaming environment Sound working knowledge of the AML/CTF Act 2006, the AML/CTF Rules, and the regulatory expectations of AUSTRAC Demonstrated experience designing and executing risk-based control testing plans and assessing control design and operating effectiveness Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, evidence-based reports for senior stakeholders and governance committees Ability to constructively challenge control owners and influence remediation outcomes Strong analytical and investigative skills, with sound judgement and attention to detail Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against a testing plan and remediation tracking schedule Demonstrated experience in incident management, including identifying root causes, coordinating timely remediation and embedding controls to prevent re-occurrence Are you a Dabbler? Remuneration The advertised salary for this position is $130,000 + Super + Benefits with room to be flexible.
