Job Title: Financial Accountant

Location: Ortigas, Pasig, PH

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM PH Time (Hybrid | 3x Onsite, 2x WFH)


Position Summary

The Client is seeking a hands-on Accountant to provide end-to-end finance support across its Australian operations. The role covers day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping, month-end reporting, payroll, reconciliations, cash flow management, compliance, and financial analysis.

Working closely with the CFO, CEO, and General Manager, the Accountant will maintain accurate and timely financial records, support management reporting and financial planning, assist with statutory and audit requirements, and identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, commercially minded finance professional who can work independently, identify discrepancies, and take ownership of issues through to resolution.


Key Responsibilities

1. General Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and properly coded.
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including journal entries, account allocations, and transaction processing.
  • Maintain accounting records in Xero and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting requirements.
  • Manage fixed asset records and related accounting activities.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies.

2. Banking & Reconciliations

  • Process and accurately code daily bank transactions in Xero.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies.
  • Reconcile customer funds/floats and maintain accurate balances.
  • Support daily cash management and cash flow monitoring.

3. Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices based on agreed billing arrangements or project milestones.
  • Maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
  • Reconcile customer invoices and transactions across multiple systems where required.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up overdue accounts.
  • Support debt collection activities and escalate material or long-outstanding balances.
  • Record and reconcile project-related revenue and costs where applicable.

4. Accounts Payable

  • Review, code, and process supplier invoices and bills.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier payments and outstanding obligations.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support payment processing and ensure supplier obligations are managed appropriately.

5. Payroll · Review employee timesheets and ensure accurate payroll inputs.

  • Process payroll for approximately 8 full-time employees using Xero Payroll.
  • Reconcile payroll information against relevant operational or job data where applicable.
  • Prepare payroll and related month-end and annual reports.
  • Process workers' compensation-related payments as required.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure payroll activities comply with applicable Australian requirements.
  • Payroll training may be provided where required.

6. Month-End & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare adjusting journal entries, trial balances, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly financial statements and management accounts.
  • Analyse income, expenses, and other financial information to support management reporting.
  • Support month-end close activities and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare draft monthly management accounts and supporting schedules for senior management and the Board.
  • Provide accurate financial information and analysis to support business decisions.

7. Tax, Compliance & Audit

  • Prepare and assist with BAS statements and other statutory requirements.
  • Ensure financial activities comply with applicable Australian accounting, taxation, payroll, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain complete and organised financial documentation.
  • Assist with the annual external audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Respond to audit queries and provide information as required.

8. Cash Flow & Financial Management

  • Monitor the company's cash position and support daily cash management.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Process or coordinate daily transfers where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cash flow and manage working capital.
  • Support the CFO and CEO with financial initiatives, cost management, and financial planning.

9. Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate financial information across cloud-based accounting and operational systems.
  • Work across Xero and other relevant business systems.
  • Reconcile data between accounting and job management systems such as Simpro, where applicable.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, discrepancies, and financial risks within finance processes.
  • Recommend and implement practical improvements to bookkeeping, reconciliation, reporting, and finance workflows.
  • Support initiatives that improve efficiency, controls, and cost management


Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting or hands-on AU Accounting experience, with practical exposure across:
  • General accounting and bookkeeping
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • General ledger management
  • Month-end accounting and financial reporting
  • Payroll processing
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, including accounting functions and preferably Xero Payroll.
  • Experience with Australian accounting and financial processes, including Australian payroll and taxation requirements.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reconciliations.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work across multiple systems and reconcile data between platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence communicating with Australian stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive approach with strong ownership and accountability.
