We’re looking for a dependable AU Intermediate Bookkeeper who can turn day-to-day transactions into clean, reliable financial records. Work Setup: Work From Home Role Overview As our AU Intermediate Bookkeeper, you’ll maintain accurate accounting records for Australian small business clients across transaction processing, reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and compliance support. You’ll keep source documents organised, help prepare BAS and IAS requirements, and proactively flag risks so client accounts remain accurate, timely, and well controlled. Key Responsibilities Record Every Transaction: Enter and categorise income, expenses, and other transactions accurately in Xero. Keep Documents Organised: Collect, review, upload, and attach invoices, receipts, statements, and supporting records to the correct transactions. Manage Payables and Receivables: Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and within agreed timelines. Process Payroll: Prepare Australian payroll, complete STP lodgements, and support Superannuation Guarantee payment processing in line with relevant requirements. Reconcile Accounts: Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts weekly, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly. Support Compliance: Assist with BAS and IAS preparation and maintain accurate records for review and lodgement. Help Close the Books: Support month-end and year-end activities, schedules, checks, and follow-ups as required. Spot Risks Early: Identify potential issues from bookkeeping checks, raise them proactively, recommend practical actions, and support other priorities assigned by the Team Manager or Service Delivery Manager. Skills & Experience Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. At least 3 years of Australian bookkeeping experience, supported by a solid general accounting background. Working knowledge of Australian GST, payroll, STP lodgement, and Superannuation Guarantee requirements. Hands-on experience with Xero and familiarity with MYOB, QuickBooks, Hubdoc, Karbon, or similar accounting tools. Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new systems quickly. Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work with minimal supervision. Effective time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills across multiple client tasks and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication, supported by practical critical thinking and problem-solving skills. CPA qualification is highly regarded.
