Bring accuracy to every account. We’re looking for a detail-focused Intermediate Tax Accountant who takes pride in accurate working papers, reliable tax compliance, and timely delivery. If you enjoy supporting an onshore team and working across a variety of Australian businesses, you’ll fit right in.
Work Setup: Fully remote

You’ll handle fundamental and core compliance tasks across client accounts and may assist with advanced work assigned by the Accounting Manager or Service Delivery Manager.
Key Responsibilities
· Review the Details: Review general ledger balances, reports, and transactions for accuracy and correct tax treatment; prepare adjustments to correct tax allocations and review year-end accruals.
· Build Reliable Working Papers: Prepare and complete working papers for clients across varied businesses in line with client and regulatory standards, and update them to match the final financial statements.
· Complete the Financial Statements: Gather relevant information and confirmations, prepare job notes supporting the financial statements, and generate complete financial statement sets for clients. Prepare trust distribution and dividend statements where applicable.
· Prepare Tax Returns: Draft individual, company, trust, and partnership tax returns in client-specified software, including tax reconciliations and tax provisions. Claim all appropriate deductions and tax offsets under regulatory standards and complete all required sections without validation errors.
· Support ATO Compliance: Prepare and lodge clients’ monthly, quarterly, or annual activity statements (IAS or BAS), as applicable.
· Keep Work Moving: Complete the onshore team’s tax compliance checklist, manage workflow to meet client deadlines and allotted budget hours, and record daily timesheets in the client-specified application.
· Raise Queries Early: Proactively raise questions and suggestions about client records to resolve gaps and support prompt working paper preparation.
· Keep Your Knowledge Current: Apply and develop technical proficiency through assigned work, self-study, courses, and current technical reports and information. Stay up to date with accounting software changes.
· Deliver with Care: Follow hammerjack and client quality guidelines and ensure accurate, timely deliverables without close supervision.
· Support the Team: Assist with advanced tasks assigned by the Accounting Manager or Service Delivery Manager and other client-management tasks deemed necessary by the Team Manager or Service Delivery Manager.
Skills & Experience
· A degree in Finance and/or Accounting; CPA qualification is preferred.
· 3–5 years of experience in Australian accounting and taxation, with knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance requirements.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and experience with accounting tools such as Xero.
· Experience with Copilot or AI tools is preferred, along with the ability to learn new systems and tools as needed.
· A strong commitment to hammerjack and client quality standards, with the ability to deliver quality work independently.
