We are expanding our network of experienced audit professionals to support upcoming U.S. based Affordable Housing and HUD audit engagements. We are seeking Audit Managers withrecent, hands-on external audit experience with U.S. affordable housing entities, properties or programs.
Candidates whose housing experience is limited to South African or other non-U.S. housing programs will not meet the sector requirement.
- Contract: Independent Contractor
- Location: Remote (South Africa or Zimbabwe, with the legal right to work in the respective country)

- Sector Experience: Recent U.S. Affordable Housing and/or HUD audit experience
- Audit Software: CaseWare or CCH
- International Audit Experience: Previous external audit experience with U.S.-based clients
U.S. Affordable Housing Experience – Essential
Candidates must have external audit experience with at least one of the following U.S. affordable housing programs, funding structures, or housing entities:
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)
- HUD-assisted housing / Section 8
- Public Housing / Public Housing Authorities (PHAs)
- HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)
- Housing Trust Fund (HTF)
- Tax-exempt bond-financed affordable housing
- USDA Rural Development housing
- Other U.S. affordable housing programs or structures
Audit Manager
Minimum Requirements:
- 6+ years of Public Accounting audit experience
- Completion of your training or articles and not out of audit for more than 2 years
- Mainly Public Accounting firm experience
- At least 2 years of experience leading audit teams and managing engagements
- Experience managing audits from planning through completion
- Strong understanding of applicable U.S. accounting, auditing, and compliance requirements
- Experience supervising engagement teams, managing budgets, reviewing audit work, and meeting deadlines
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality audit services to global clients.
Audit Managers will:
- Providing timely, high-quality client service, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating all client deliverables.
- Understanding skill sets and capabilities of team members, monitoring and reviewing work produced to ensure quality and skill development.
- Managing larger, more complex engagement teams, ensuring client satisfaction and team morale.
- Proactively and confidently communicates with all levels at the firm and client.
- Supervising of the engagement team, tasks and budget.
- Project management of audits from planning to completion, including review and sign-off on key audit sections.
- Conducting audits in terms of International Standards of Auditing.

Note:

- Audit experience and alignment to a specific level within SAPRO, shall be determined based on your individual audit exposure, technical interview and evaluation.
- Generally, we work on a 4 hour overlap with the host firm, however this is client dependent.
