Automation Engineer - Playwright

We are looking for a skilled QA Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Playwright to join the InnoWave team.

Responsibilities

1. Test Automation Development

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain end-to-end automated test suites using Playwright with TypeScript or JavaScript.

• Build and maintain scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks using the Page Object Model (POM), fixtures, and reusable utilities.

• Develop automated tests for critical business workflows, regression scenarios, smoke testing, and functional validation.

• Implement API automation using Playwright's API request context or other suitable tools.

• Manage test data, environment configurations, and test dependencies to ensure reliable test execution.

2. CI/CD Integration & Test Execution

• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.

• Configure parallel execution, test sharding, retries, and reporting to optimise execution time and reliability.

• Perform cross-browser testing across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit.

• Validate application behaviour across different screen sizes and responsive layouts.

• Generate clear test execution reports and communicate test results, defects, and release risks.

3. Test Maintenance & Quality Improvement

• Investigate automation failures, identify root causes, and resolve flaky tests.

• Monitor automation coverage, execution stability, and test suite effectiveness.

• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, execution speed, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with development teams to reproduce defects, validate fixes, and prevent regressions.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, testing strategies, and engineering standards.

4. Collaboration & Agile Delivery

• Work closely with developers, BAs, product owners, and DevOps engineers to define acceptance criteria and ensure requirements are testable.

• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

• Advocate for a shift-left testing approach by integrating quality practices early in the development lifecycle.

• Review automation code, share best practices, and support team members in improving their testing skills.

• Communicate testing progress, technical challenges, and release readiness to relevant stakeholders across distributed teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance, including at least 2 years of hands-on test automation experience.

• Proven experience implementing and maintaining Playwright automation in production projects.

• Strong programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript.

• Good understanding of automation framework design, including Page Object Model, fixtures, reusable components, and test data management.

• Hands-on experience with end-to-end, functional, regression, and smoke testing.

• Practical experience in REST API testing using Playwright APIRequestContext, Postman, or equivalent tools.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.

• Familiarity with Git, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review practices.

• Understanding of test design techniques, the test pyramid, risk-based testing, and defect lifecycle management.

• Ability to troubleshoot failures, analyse test results, and improve automation reliability.

• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
