Automation Solutions Consultant (Contractor)

A leading eDiscovery technology and consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC is looking for an experienced Automation Solutions Consultant to assist in the evaluation, design, and implementation of workflow automation solutions supporting both internal operations and client-facing projects. This is a temporary contract position with the possibility of an extension based on business needs.
The qualified candidate will focus on identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation technologies, robotic process automation (RPA), automated testing platforms, and database-driven solutions. The initial engagement will include evaluating and implementing automation solutions for applications operating within Citrix environments, supporting Oracle database workflows, and helping establish best practices for software development, testing, and quality control.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate to leverage their hands-on automation expertise and strong knowledge of databases and systems to evaluate complex business processes and develop scalable automation solutions.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
Workflow Automation & RPA
- Evaluate and implement workflow automation solutions using tools such as:
- Microsoft Power Automate
- UiPath
- Test automation platforms
- Other RPA technologies
- Design and develop automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
- Document automation architectures, workflows, and support procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiencies.
Citrix Automation & Application Integration
- Evaluate methods for automating workflows within Citrix-hosted applications.
- Develop proof-of-concept automation solutions for business processes performed within virtualized environments.
- Assess technical limitations and recommend best practices for automation reliability and scalability.
- Troubleshoot automation challenges related to session management, screen recognition, application behavior, and workflow branching.
Database Systems & Quality Control
- Assist in the development and administration of Quickbase applications and other low-code platforms.
- Build automations, workflows, dashboards, and integrations to streamline business processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Evaluate opportunities to leverage low-code solutions instead of traditional development where appropriate.
Development Standards & Knowledge Transfer
- Establish practical standards for:
- Automation development
- Testing
- Documentation
- Change management
- Quality assurance
- Recommend tooling and processes appropriate for a small development team.
- Assist in creating repeatable development and deployment workflows utilizing GitHub and modern source control practices.
- Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to internal team members.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in software automation, test automation, RPA, or systems integration.
- Experience with one or more automation platforms:
- Microsoft Power Automate
- UiPath
- TestComplete
- Similar automation technologies
- Experience working with Citrix-hosted or virtual desktop environments.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience.
- Experience with Oracle databases or similar enterprise data platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting and validating data outputs.
- Ability to independently evaluate technical approaches and recommend solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
THE FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience with GitHub, source control workflows, and code review practices.
- Experience with C# or .NET development.
- Experience with APIs and system integrations.
- Familiarity with Quickbase or other low-code platforms.
- Experience with workflow automation involving document generation, reporting, or business process automation.
- eDiscovery, legal technology, litigation support, or compliance experience.
- Experience with government-hosted systems or highly regulated environments.
- Experience automating legacy applications.
- Experience with OCR, computer vision, or image-based automation.
- Experience evaluating AI-enabled automation workflows.
HOURLY RATE:
- $60.00 - $90.00 per Hour
