The AVP, Corporate Partnerships is a senior leadership position responsible for managing and growing Breakthrough T1D's existing corporate partnership portfolio. This role oversees a team accountable for corporate partnerships outside the diabetes industry, diabetes industry partnerships, and the Ford Global Action Team (FGAT), together representing more than $15-20 million in annual revenue. The AVP, Corporate Partnerships serves as the organization's senior expert in account management, partnership benefit delivery, contract negotiation, and portfolio growth through renewals and upgrades.
Reporting to the VP, Corporate Engagement, this position partners closely with the AVP, Corporate Development on enterprise-wide pipeline strategy, ensuring seamless transition of new partners into long-term, high-value relationships. The AVP, Corporate Partnerships collaborates across internal teams including research, advocacy, marketing, legal, and field staff to deliver on partnership commitments, deepen partner engagement, and drive year-over-year revenue growth through strategic account management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership:
- Leads and manages a team responsible for corporate partnerships (non-industry), diabetes industry partnerships, and the Ford Global Action Team, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development to achieve individual and team revenue goals.
- Oversees a combined partnership portfolio generating $15-20 million or more annually, establishing clear accountability standards, account management best practices, and revenue growth strategies across all three teams.
- Serves on the Corporate Development leadership team and contributes to department-wide strategy, planning, and culture in partnership with the VP, Corporate Engagement and AVP, Corporate Development.
Account Management and Portfolio Growth:
- Develops and implements an enterprise-wide account management framework that drives consistent partner experiences, maximizes renewal rates, and creates structured pathways for partnership upgrades across the corporate, industry, and FGAT portfolios.
- Holds a personal portfolio of strategic accounts, directly managing relationships with senior corporate executives and serving as an escalation point for high-value or complex partnership negotiations.
- Oversees the development and execution of strategic account plans for all national corporate partnerships, including executive relationship mapping, cross-sell and upsell strategies, multi-year agreement negotiation, and mission alignment positioning.
- Guides and supports the Ford Global Action Team in managing Breakthrough T1D's most significant single-company partnership, ensuring the Ford relationship receives appropriate strategic investment, executive engagement, and cross-functional coordination.
- Ensures all partnership contracts and letters of agreement are negotiated and executed in alignment with organizational priorities, working with legal and internal stakeholders to protect Breakthrough T1D's interests while maintaining strong partner relationships.
Pipeline and New Partner Integration:
- Collaborates with the AVP, Corporate Development to define pipeline transition criteria, ensuring new partners are onboarded into the account management structure with clear goals, account plans, and relationship continuity.
- Partners with internal teams including research, advocacy, marketing and communications, and legal to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all partnership assets and benefits, maintaining accountability through the Director, Corporate Operations.
- Works collaboratively with field teams, chapter staff, and volunteers to deepen corporate partner engagement at local and regional levels, leveraging Breakthrough T1D events and initiatives to strengthen relationships and expand engagement across partner organizations.
Financial Oversight and Reporting:
- Monitors and evaluates portfolio health metrics including renewal rates, upgrade rates, revenue per partner, and pipeline coverage; develops dashboards and reporting in partnership with analytics to support data-driven decision making and executive reporting.
- Provides oversight on department budgeting and forecasting for the corporate partnerships portfolio in partnership with the VP, Corporate Engagement and finance, monitoring program revenue and controlling expenses.
- Maintains current knowledge of corporate social responsibility, environmental, social, and governance trends, cause marketing best practices, and the evolving corporate philanthropic landscape to inform partnership strategies and identify growth opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 or more years of experience in corporate partnership management, nonprofit sales, or account management in a matrixed organization, with demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar portfolios.
- 5 or more years in a leadership or management capacity, with a proven track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams to achieve revenue goals.
- Demonstrated expertise in consultative account management, contract negotiation, and driving revenue growth through renewals and upgrades of existing partnerships.
- Experience managing diverse partnership portfolios, including large national accounts, industry-specific relationships, and high-touch embedded partnerships.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic account plans that align organizational priorities with partner business objectives, demonstrating return on investment and mission impact.
- Strong understanding of corporate social responsibility, cause marketing, and the nonprofit corporate philanthropic landscape; experience in the healthcare or disease space preferred.
- Ability to lead cross-functional internal teams to execute on partnership commitments, build partner accountability structures, and resolve complex partnership challenges.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Fortune 1000 executives, internal leadership, and volunteer stakeholders.
- Experience developing and managing operational budgets and forecasts; proficiency in monitoring program revenue and expense controls.
- Proficient in Salesforce and MS Suite; experience developing dashboards and analytical tools preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; master's degree preferred.
- Ability to travel approximately 40 percent of the time, including overnight trips; ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Target Salary - $145k - $185k
