Synopsis of the role
We are seeking a Data Governance Leader to drive data quality, regulatory compliance, and analytics governance across our core credit ecosystem. In this executive-facing role, you will oversee data pipelines, enforce Uniform Credit Reporting Formats, and manage Critical Data Elements across data ingestion lifecycle. Working closely with Senior Leadership, Board committees, and regulatory bodies to align data policies with regulatory frameworks. Additionally, you will lead root cause analysis and establish data trend reporting to mitigate risk. Join us to bridge complex technical architectures with business strategy and shape credit data governance.
What you’ll do
- Data Quality & Analytics Governance (DQI/DSR): Enforce and maintain Uniform Credit Reporting Formats (UCRF -Forms 1, 2, and 3) across all data pipelines. Oversee end-to-end ingestion processing, ensure automated generation and distribution of Data Statistics Reports (DSR), and establish benchmarks for file-level, CI-level, and Industry-level Data Quality Indexes (DQIs).
- Critical Data Element (CDE) & Lineage Management: Own and continuously update the CDE Master Register covering key attributes such as Loan Status, DPD, Outstanding Balance, and Demographics. Design and enforce risk-based data lineage tracking from initial SFTP ingestion through to consumer credit reports (CIRs) and scoring models.
- Regulatory Compliance & Policy Alignment: Ensure strict compliance with statutory credit data retention policies (7- year and perpetual retention rules) and RBI guidelines. Work closely with legal and compliance teams to adapt internal governance policies to evolving regulatory standards.
- Dispute Resolution Governance: Monitor and optimize dispute resolution workflows to ensure adherence to the statutory 30-day resolution SLA. Collaborate directly with the Internal Ombudsman on complex or escalated dispute rejections to maintain fairness and accuracy.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Algorithm Tuning: Analyze quarterly delink logs and customer complaint dumps to conduct deep-dive RCAs. Identify and resolve algorithm defects, fine-tuning entity resolution match logic and adjusting match thresholds within DCtrl.
- Member Engagement & Data Remediation: Drive engagement with Credit Institutions (CIs) to resolve recurring submission errors, monitor compliance, and enforce data cleanup and resubmission schedules.
- Audit & Anomaly Detection: Execute routine KYC anomaly audits focusing on key identifiers like PAN, Aadhaar, and Voter ID to ensure data integrity and prevent identity misclassification.
- Data Trends: Data Trend Analysis & Reporting: Extract, analyze, and publish data trends to deliver actionable insights to key stakeholders, serving as early warning indicators to mitigate potential risks.
What experience you need
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or related quantitative fields.
- Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in Data Governance, Data Quality Management, or Business Intelligence within a Credit Bureau, Financial Institution, or Fintech.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep expertise in Indian Credit Bureau standards (UCRF, CICRA, DPDP), entity resolution, cascading match algorithms, and data lineage mapping.
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, SAS/Python, database architecture (Cassandra/Oracle), ETL frameworks (Talend GCP), and statistical sampling methods.
- Leadership: Strong cross-functional leadership, executive presentation capabilities, and experience presenting governance outcomes to Senior Leadership teams and board committees.
What could set you apart
