About The Role
Building on our popularity with business energy customers and the success of Ecotalk, we’re launching Ecotalk for Business and looking for our first founding team member to lead its growth. You’ll build a new B2B telecoms business from the ground up, backed by the expertise, capabilities and customer base of an established entrepreneur-led business.
The role is to build and grow Ecotalk for Business, initially through a simple, competitive SIM-only proposition, while identifying new market segments and opportunities to develop B2B solutions that meet customer needs. The role will develop existing relationships and build new ones to create opportunities for both Ecotalk for Business and our energy supply business, while taking hands-on ownership across proposition development, sales, customer experience and day-to-day delivery. Working across teams, you will turn ideas into action, test and learn quickly, and keep the focus on winning customers and making the service straightforward to buy and use.
The role will be responsible for:
- Develop and deliver the B2B sales strategy, including direct and third-party intermediary (TPI) channels, owning agreed sales, revenue and margin targets for Ecotalk for Business. Focus early sales activity, build a pipeline and lead customer and partner discussions from initial enquiry through proposal, commercial negotiation and agreement, within agreed pricing and approval limits.
- Shape and refine the proposition, initially focused on SIM-only, with clear pricing, customer benefits and competitive positioning. Speak directly with business customers to understand what matters to them, test the offer and identify new market segments where we could develop a relevant B2B solution.
- Build a straightforward customer journey from initial enquiry through purchase, onboarding and ongoing support. Work with the relevant teams to make the service easy to buy and use, develop practical self-service options and resolve issues that create unnecessary effort for customers.
- Put the day-to-day operating arrangements in place, including billing, customer support, reporting and clear responsibilities across teams. Work across Ecotalk, B2B Sales, Finance, Credit Risk and operational teams to ensure propositions are commercially sound and can be delivered effectively. Build on existing capabilities, address gaps and establish proportionate governance so the service can grow without unnecessary complexity.
- Identify and assess new revenue streams, partnerships and white-label opportunities that respond to business customer needs. Explore the commercial potential and practical requirements of each opportunity, prioritising those with a clear customer benefit and a credible route to delivery.
- Develop and own a practical roadmap for launch and growth, setting clear priorities and following activity through to delivery. Track sales, customer feedback and commercial performance, using what we learn to improve the proposition, adjust priorities and decide which opportunities to pursue next.
- Build and manage relationships with key customers, intermediaries and partners, confidently handling senior commercial discussions and resolving escalations. Develop existing relationships and build new ones to identify customer needs and opportunities across telecoms and energy, working with the relevant sales teams to turn shared customer relationships into new business.
This is a hands-on role: you will move between developing ideas, speaking to customers, winning business and sorting out the detail needed to deliver. Take ownership, involve the right colleagues and follow through on commitments. Keep the approach simple, agile and entrepreneurial—remove unnecessary barriers, test ideas quickly, listen to feedback and adapt when something is not working.
About You
You’re commercially minded, practical and motivated by the opportunity to build something new. You can turn an idea into a clear plan and get involved in the detail to make it happen, whether that means speaking to customers, developing the proposition, winning business or resolving a day-to-day issue.
You’ll ideally bring B2B telecoms or service-provider experience, with a track record of developing propositions, sales plans or bundled services. You can demonstrate success in winning new business, negotiating commercial agreements and developing customer or partner relationships. You’re confident engaging senior decision-makers and balancing growth ambitions with margin, customer experience and operational delivery. You can recognise opportunities in new market segments and develop relationships that create value for both Ecotalk for Business and our energy supply business.
You take ownership and follow through on commitments. You’re comfortable working where not everything is defined, can prioritise what matters and know when to bring in colleagues with the right expertise. You build constructive working relationships, communicate clearly and keep the customer’s experience at the centre of your decisions.
Above all, you’re resourceful, curious and willing to roll up your sleeves. You keep things simple, test ideas, listen to feedback and adapt when something is not working. You want the breadth and responsibility of helping build a business from day one, rather than a narrowly defined role.

Flexibility statement
The fast moving nature of the business means that from time to time you may be asked to perform duties or tasks outside of your original job description on an ad hoc basis. This allows the company to utilise our people in the best possible way at all times and helps our colleagues to make the best contribution in a changing environment.
Ecotricity is Britain's overall greenest energy company- it’s more than just green energy – the breadth and depth of our work on green issues is unmatched. When we started back in 1995, we were the first company in the world to provide a new kind of electricity - the green kind.
Our mission was, and remains, to change the way energy is made and used in Britain - by replacing fossil fuels with clean, renewable energy.
We don't just supply green energy, we use the money from our customers' bills to make it ourselves too – we have built windmills and sun parks in Britain. We call this turning 'bills into mills'.
We don't just focus on energy though- we built the Electric Highway, Britain's leading network of electric vehicle charging points; we helped Forest Green Rovers become the greenest football club in the world; and we launched Britain's greenest mobile phone service, Ecotalk, where they use the money from their customers' bills to protect and regenerate Britain's lost rainforests.
Ecotricity is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to providing equality for all.
