Backend Engineer (Python, Platform and Data)
Hiring on behalf of CineSports via WanXAI
CineSports is building a tool that lets football coaches upload game film, change one decision on a play, and see how likely the change is to work. We’re hiring a backend engineer to build the platform behind it.
What you’ll do
- Build user signup, login (including SSO) and role-based access for coaches and analysts, with each team’s data kept isolated.
- Design and run data storage: PostgreSQL for metadata and results, S3-compatible storage for film, and Parquet for play data.
- Build the pipelines that take uploaded film through processing jobs on GPU workers and store versioned play records, plus the APIs (FastAPI) that coaches’ tools use.
- Set up CI/CD, containers and monitoring, starting simple and adding complexity only when load requires it.
You should have
- Strong Python and experience running production APIs.
- Solid PostgreSQL and schema design, plus experience with object storage and columnar formats like Parquet.
- Experience with job queues and building retryable pipelines.
- A working grasp of authentication and multi-tenant data separation.
Nice to have
- Experience with video or media processing, GPU batch jobs, or ML pipelines.
- Experience with encryption at rest, audit logs and handling confidential customer data.
Why this role
You’ll shape the architecture from the start, work on a product with a clear user, and follow a defined roadmap from prototype through pilot to production. The computer vision and learning work sits with a separate team, so this role stays focused on the backend.
Details
- Type: Contract, fixed amount for a defined scope of work
- Location: Remote
- Compensation: [fixed fee, and payment milestones]
