Backend Developer

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. You will help build and maintain backend services powering our global travel platform. This role is ideal for someone passionate about backend development, eager to learn, and looking to work with experienced engineers on real-world, large-scale systems. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain server-side logic and APIs for web and mobile applications. Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices. Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with backend logic. Assist in database design, development, and optimisation. Contribute to bug fixes, feature enhancements, and performance improvements. Support integration of multiple data sources and third-party APIs. Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities. Learn and apply secure development and data protection principles. Skills Essential: Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python. Familiarity with Spring Framework or similar backend frameworks. Basic understanding of RESTful API design. Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows. Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases. Good problem-solving and analytical skills. Enthusiastic, curious, and eager to grow in a team environment. Preferred: 1-3 years of backend development experience (including internships). Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD tools. Understanding of frontend technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3). Exposure to cloud environments or containerisation (e.g., AWS, GCP, Docker). Awareness of secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP). Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Proficient in English; Mandarin/Cantonese is a plus.
