A leading national law firm is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate with 4+ years PAE to join its growing Banking & Finance practice in Perth. Applications are also welcomed from suitably experienced interstate lawyers interested in working remotely.

This is an opportunity to work directly with a highly regarded Banking & Finance Partner who brings more than 30 years of experience at leading Australian and international law firms. Recognised for their expertise in banking, project finance and debt capital markets, they have advised major financial institutions on multibillion-dollar transactions across the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.

You will join an expanding practice with a strong pipeline of international referrals, advising sophisticated clients on complex financing transactions across Australia and overseas. With direct partner involvement and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues nationally, the role offers significant responsibility, exposure to high-quality work and genuine career development opportunities.

The Work

You will work across matters including:

  • Energy, Resources & Project Finance - advising on major project financings across Australia and internationally, including mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and infrastructure developments.
  • Leveraged & Acquisition Finance - acting on high-value corporate acquisitions, leveraged financing arrangements and associated security structures.
  • Real Estate & Private Credit Finance - advising on property financing transactions involving banks, private credit funds and alternative lenders.
  • Cross-Border & Syndicated Finance - advising on complex syndicated lending facilities and international financing arrangements involving major financial institutions.
  • Debt Restructuring & Distressed Finance - advising on refinancing, debt restructurings and distressed debt transactions.
  • Corporate & Trade Finance - advising on corporate lending, treasury arrangements and trade finance transactions.

The practice acts for major Australian and international banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers, with particular strength in the resources, infrastructure and real estate sectors. Its growing international client base and involvement in nationally significant transactions provide an opportunity to develop a broad and sophisticated finance practice.

About You

  • You will have 4+ years PAE in front-end Banking & Finance, ideally gained within a top-tier or highly regarded commercial law firm.
  • You will bring demonstrated experience documenting, negotiating and completing finance transactions involving banks, financial institutions and other sophisticated lenders.
  • Strong technical expertise, commercial judgement and the ability to deliver practical, client-focused advice will be important.
  • You will be comfortable taking responsibility for transactions, working closely with Partners and managing client relationships.
  • Experience across project finance, corporate lending, leveraged or acquisition finance, real estate finance or debt restructuring will be particularly relevant.

The priority is a capable and ambitious finance lawyer who is keen to broaden their transactional expertise and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
