This position will report to our agency located in either Cranson, RI, Farmington, CT, Mansfield, MA, Canton, MA, or Southborough, MA. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is a hybrid position.

Position Summary:

The Benefits Analyst plays a key role in managing the development, renewal, and ongoing administration of employee benefits plans. This position is responsible for leading complex RFP processes, preparing strategic financial exhibits, ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple states, and negotiating with carriers and vendors to secure optimal plan options. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive professional with strong analytical capabilities and a deep understanding of employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities:


RFP Development & Strategic Marketing

  • Support the development of Request for Proposals (RFPs) by gathering plan design information, rate history, enrollment and claims data, contribution details, and benefit change documentation.
  • Coordinate RFP and renewal timelines, track key deliverables, and follow up with internal teams, carriers, and vendors to support timely completion.
  • Prepare draft cover materials, including employer profiles, marketing objectives, and special conditions, for team review.
  • Analyze carrier proposals and summarize options that align with the client’s cost and benefit strategy.
  • Support carrier negotiations by preparing rate comparisons, identifying key terms, and documenting proposed changes.

Renewal Strategy & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare renewal presentations that include total cost summaries and year-over-year cost comparisons for internal and client review.
  • Develop financial exhibits using renewal, marketing, and RFP results to support recommendations and client decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of renewal and marketing activity in SharePoint.
  • Track the receipt of renewal data from carriers and coordinate follow-up items throughout the renewal process.

Carrier & Vendor Oversight

  • Review carrier contracts, certificates, and policy documents for benefit accuracy, rate guarantees, commissions, eligibility, and class definitions, and escalate discrepancies for resolution.
  • Coordinate plan changes, including Life and Disability updates, and review rating structures and Voluntary Life Table I requirements for accuracy.

Regulatory Compliance & State-Specific Review

  • Review state and local benefits requirements, including statutory disability, health care spending ordinances, and dental mandates, and support implementation of required updates.
  • Review census data to identify potential statutory eligibility requirements by jurisdiction, including CA, MA, NY, TX, and SF.
  • Coordinate with carriers and TPAs to gather information and support state-specific filing and notice requirements.

Analysis, Documentation & Gap Identification

  • Identify potential gaps in Life and Disability coverage and prepare findings for team review.
  • Perform detailed census analysis to support benefit eligibility and plan administration.
  • Create and maintain documentation for compliance tracking, internal reporting, and audit support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Deep knowledge of benefits compliance, plan design, and renewal processes.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, TPAs, and vendor contracts.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SharePoint or similar document management tools.
