Job Description:

EnerSys is a global leader in stored energy solutions helping industrial, infrastructure and defense customers address critical power and operational needs. The company delivers integrated solutions that combine energy storage technologies, power electronics, software-enabled intelligence, technical expertise and comprehensive global customer support. EnerSys supports customers across communications networks, data centers, energy infrastructure, material handling, transportation, aerospace and defense — including applications where power continuity is essential. Serving customers in more than 100 countries, EnerSys helps organizations manage energy more reliably, efficiently and intelligently in complex operating environments where uptime, safety and resilience matter.

Supporting Critical Operations Through Three Specialized Business Platforms:

  • Network & Infrastructure Solutions (NIS) - Powering the connected world with trusted reserve power and critical infrastructure solutions.
  • Industrial Mobility Solutions (IMS) - Powering industrial vehicles and equipment that keep essential goods and industries moving around the world.
  • Precision Power Solutions (PPS) - Powering advanced, reliable, high-performance solutions for defense, aerospace, and specialized applications.

Job Purpose

Enable the growth of EnerSys’ commercial and industrial BESS business in Europe by combining market knowledge and technical sales support with practical experience in project delivery.

Act as the internal technical lead from opportunity assessment through customer handover, defining scope, selecting qualified external partners and coordinating site assessment, permitting, installation and commissioning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess customer sites and requirements with sales teams and external specialists. Identify technical feasibility, connection requirements, site constraints and installation risks before commercial commitments are made.
  • Identify the site-specific permitting and approval pathway with local specialists, customers and relevant authorities or network operators. Coordinate submissions and track approvals, with responsibilities clearly agreed between the parties.
  • Develop and qualify a network of engineering consultants, electrical installers, civil works contractors, lifting providers and commissioning partners in priority markets. Define scopes, deliverables, interfaces and selection criteria.
  • Coordinate electrical design, site preparation, delivery, lifting and positioning with qualified partners, ensuring site readiness and completion of required technical sign-offs.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, installation budget, contractor performance and risks through commissioning, acceptance testing and customer handover.
  • Review quotations with sales and finance to ensure that engineering, permits, installation, commissioning, exclusions and contingencies are properly reflected. Provide technical input to customer proposals and supplier or contractor offers.
  • Maintain knowledge of BESS applications, competitors and customer economics. Support sales teams with customer meetings, solution selection, business cases and clear explanations of system value and delivery requirements.
  • Work with Product Management, Engineering, Operations and Service to confirm solution suitability, resolve technical issues and provide market feedback. Establish reusable site assessment tools, partner scopes, checklists and handover documentation.
  • Coordinate training and service handover so local teams understand operating requirements, maintenance responsibilities and escalation routes. Share project lessons to improve subsequent deployments.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
  • Proven involvement in successfully installed and commissioned stationary BESS projects, preferably for commercial and industrial customers in Europe. Candidates must demonstrate their personal role in coordinating delivery and managing external partners.
  • Practical experience with permitting and connection processes, electrical integration, contractor selection, project costing and site execution. Ability to recognise when specialist or locally authorised expertise is required.
  • Sound understanding of batteries, power conversion, energy management systems and grid-connected applications, together with the ability to review electrical diagrams and challenge technical proposals.
  • Commercial awareness, including BESS use cases, energy economics, quotation review and customer business cases. Ability to support sales while identifying delivery constraints and risks.
  • Strong project coordination, communication and supplier management skills; able to work across countries and functions. Fluent English; additional European languages are an advantage. Willingness to travel regularly.
  • Experience in warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial operations.

Initial priorities and measures of success

Establish the delivery approach and qualified partner coverage in selected European markets; progress initial customer projects through approvals, installation and commissioning; and create a repeatable process for subsequent deployments. Success will be measured by predictable project costs and schedules, quality and safety of execution, customer acceptance and effective support for profitable sales.
