BI Test Analyst

We are looking for an experienced BI Test Engineer to join a cross-functional team working on Microsoft-based data warehouse, analytics, and reporting solutions. In this role, you will ensure the reliability and accuracy of our BI platforms by validating data across the complete analytical flow, from source systems and transformation layers to semantic models and business-facing dashboards.

While developers remain responsible for code-level and unit testing, you will establish and execute the broader quality approach, covering data integration, system validation, regression testing, and release readiness. This position requires a combination of strong SQL skills, structured testing experience, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of how business data moves through modern BI architectures.

As a Test Analyst, you will....

• End-to-End Validation: Verify data accuracy, mappings, and business rules across the entire flow, from source systems to reporting layers.
• BI Testing: Validate Power BI models, KPIs, and dashboards to ensure they meet business requirements.
• Regression & System Testing: Design and execute testing scenarios for critical data flows and support release readiness.
• Automation: Build and maintain automated data-quality checks and reusable test cases using SQL and dbt.
• Defect Management: Investigate data discrepancies, track bugs, and collaborate with developers to resolve root causes.

What we expect from you

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in BI testing, data warehouse testing, ETL/ELT testing or data quality engineering, with strong practical experience in at least two of these areas.
• Strong hands-on SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, reconciliation queries, analytical queries and data investigation.
• Good understanding of relational data structures and dimensional modeling concepts.
• Experience designing and executing integration, system and regression tests.
• Experience producing structured test plans, test cases, execution evidence and test reports.
• Experience investigating data discrepancies and performing root-cause analysis.
• Ability to define risk-based test coverage while considering delivery priorities.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into verifiable data and reporting scenarios.
• Experience with defect tracking and test-management tools, preferably Azure DevOps.

Advantages

• Experience with dbt, Microsoft Fabric, or Python-based test automation.
• Advanced knowledge of Power BI validation (semantic models, DAX, performance testing).
• Familiarity with CI/CD integration, API testing, or automated data-observability frameworks.
• Understanding of modern data patterns (e.g., incremental loading, CDC) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O.
• Background in finance/supply-chain processes, or relevant certifications (ISTQB, Microsoft).
