Billing Specialist – Urine Drug Screen (UDS) / Toxicology Billing - Remote

Nirvana Billing & Staffing, LLC is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist with a strong background in Urine Drug Screen (UDS) and Toxicology Billing to join our growing Revenue Cycle team.

This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who understands payer-specific billing requirements, medical necessity, coding compliance, and denial management for laboratory and pain management services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit claims for urine drug screen and toxicology testing.
• Accurately apply CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes based on payer guidelines.
• Review documentation to ensure medical necessity and billing compliance.
• Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies.
• Prepare and submit appeals with supporting clinical documentation.
• Monitor payer policies, LCD/NCD updates, and billing regulations.
• Analyze denial trends and recommend process improvements.
• Collaborate with coding, compliance, QA, and clinical teams.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and internal billing standards.
• Assist with internal and external billing audits.

Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of experience in UDS/Toxicology billing within a laboratory or clinic environment.
• Hands-on experience using AdvancedMD.
• Strong knowledge of:

1. CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
2. Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing
3. Medical necessity requirements
4. Frequency limitations and payer-specific policies
5. Experience managing claim denials and appeals.
6. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred

• CPC, CCS, CBCS, or similar coding certification.
• Experience in pain management billing.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements related to toxicology billing.
• Experience with both presumptive and definitive drug testing.
