BIM 2 / VDC Coordinator – MEP

Fully Remote

The BIM/VDC Coordinator will manage day-to-day virtual design and construction coordination for MEP projects, taking ownership of assigned work from initial model development through construction support.

This fully remote position requires someone who can independently coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, identify and resolve clashes, maintain model quality, communicate directly with clients and general contractors, and provide technical direction to supporting drafting resources.

The position offers exposure across multiple trades, including HVAC/sheet metal, mechanical piping, plumbing, and structural steel, with an emphasis on developing broad coordination expertise rather than remaining limited to one discipline.

BIM 2 / VDC Coordinator Key Responsibilities

  • Manage BIM/VDC coordination activities for assigned MEP projects from model setup through construction.
  • Develop and maintain coordinated Revit models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Create and manage fabrication-ready content using Autodesk Fabrication CADmep.
  • Perform clash detection, coordination reviews, and model quality checks.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for BIM coordination matters on assigned projects.
  • Review and provide quality control for work completed by supporting drafting resources.
  • Assist with RFIs, change documentation, and other project coordination requirements.
  • Identify technical, scope, schedule, or coordination issues and escalate them appropriately.
  • Apply established modeling, fabrication, and quality-control standards.
  • Manage model worksharing, cloud collaboration, and overall model health.
  • Support continuous improvement of BIM/VDC processes and standards.
  • Develop working knowledge across multiple construction trades and systems.

Required Qualifications for BIM 2 / VDC Coordinator

  • 3–5 years of professional BIM/VDC coordination experience.
  • Experience independently managing day-to-day coordination responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit MEP, including worksets and cloud-based collaboration.
  • Experience with Autodesk Fabrication CADmep, including fabrication content and service configuration.
  • Proficiency with Navisworks and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with MEP modeling, clash detection, drawing production, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Ability to lead or actively participate in coordination meetings with clients and general contractors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Degree in architecture, architectural engineering, construction management, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent trade, fabrication, or field experience may be considered.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge across HVAC/sheet metal, mechanical piping, plumbing, and structural steel.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to model quality.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment.
  • Sound practices for protecting confidential project models, drawings, and other digital information.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications for BIM 2 / VDC Coordinator

  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or Autodesk Forma.
  • Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical piping.
  • Previous experience working for a specialty subcontractor or fabrication company.
  • Experience directing or reviewing work completed by remote/offshore drafting teams.
  • Experience supporting fabrication and field installation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote team environment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong BIM/VDC professional who can independently manage coordination work while communicating effectively with field personnel, trade partners, clients, and project teams. They investigate the cause of coordination problems rather than simply working around them, take ownership of their work, and proactively identify issues before they affect the project.
