If you are looking to work for a dynamic and growing company performing engineering services for world leaders in the technology and industrial sectors, Corbin Consulting is the place for you. Challenge yourself and have fun working with a team of top performers who have earned a reputation for excellence among their clients and peers.
Work for an employee-owned company that values its people and allows you to shape your future as you help the company continue its relentless growth.
Advantages of working for Corbin Consulting Engineers:
- Employees control their career advancement. You will have direct access to key project players, including design managers, discipline designers, and officers.
- Own your projects. As a Project BIM Lead, you will be the go-to person for the model on large, complex projects from kickoff through construction documents.
- Design building systems for leaders in the advanced technology, industrial sector and life sciences sectors.
- Corbin serves a wide variety of clients with a myriad of unique projects and design challenges, providing a variety of working experiences.
- We are not “corporate”; we are an engineering company committed to delivering excellence for our clients.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced BIM Coordinator / Modeler for our Hillsboro office. In this role, you will own the BIM on your assigned projects, serving as the Project BIM Lead on large, complex projects. You will model across all disciplines and be responsible for clash detection, model coordination, and model management for the projects you are assigned to.
This is a hands-on position for a candidate who is an expert in Revit and Navisworks Manage and who enjoys taking ownership of a project model from setup through final deliverables. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable setting up a project model from scratch, routing process piping through a congested ceiling space, running clash detection, and leading a coordination meeting with engineers or outside project partners.
Our drafting and modeling team works across all disciplines rather than being divided by trade. Team members model and document process, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems, often on the same project. In this role, you will model all of those systems, coordinate how they come together in the federated model, and keep your project models consistent with our company standards. Candidates who enjoy variety and have worked across multiple disciplines will thrive here.
Key Responsibilities
Project BIM Leadership:
- Serve as the Project BIM Lead on assigned projects, including large, complex projects, owning the project model from kickoff through construction documents.
- Set up project models at kickoff, including model setup, work sharing strategy, linked model structure, shared coordinates, and file management.
- Develop and maintain the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) for assigned projects, and apply company modeling standards, Level of Development (LOD) requirements, naming conventions, and model organization.
- Manage model health on assigned projects, including model audits, performance, warnings, and file maintenance.
- Act as the BIM point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating model exchange, data drops, and deliverable requirements with clients, architects, general contractors, and trade partners.
- Lead project coordination meetings, set agendas, assign action items, and drive clash and coordination issues to closure.
- Set up and manage assigned projects in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / Autodesk Forma, including folder structure, permissions, cloud worksharing, model publishing, and design collaboration packages.
- Work with project managers and engineers to plan BIM tasks, track model progress, and meet project schedules and deadlines.
- Provide technical guidance to other modelers and designers working on your projects.
Clash Detection and Model Coordination:
- Set up and run clash detection in Navisworks Manage and ACC / Forma Model Coordination, including clash tests, rules, search and selection sets, coordination spaces, and clash reports.
- Manage clash and coordination issues through their full life cycle: assigning, tracking, and verifying resolution in ACC / Forma Issues or Navisworks, and reporting status to project teams.
- Review federated models to identify spatial conflicts, routing issues, clearance and maintenance access concerns, and constructability problems.
- Lead interdisciplinary routing coordination between process, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines.
- Coordinate model updates between internal disciplines and external project partners.
- Track, report, and communicate coordination issue status to project teams and project managers until each item is resolved.
Modeling and Production:
- Model all disciplines in Revit, including process, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Create and manage parametric Revit families.
- Integrate 3D laser scans, point clouds, and existing-condition models into Revit.
- Produce and publish coordinated construction documents.
- Perform AutoCAD drafting when required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Expert-level Revit skills, with the ability to independently set up, develop, and manage multidisciplinary building system models on large projects.
- Expert-level Navisworks Manage skills, including clash test setup, rules, search and selection sets, clash detection, and resolution workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / Autodesk Forma, including Docs, Design Collaboration, Model Coordination, Issues, and cloud worksharing (BIM Collaborate Pro).
- Solid understanding of BIM Execution Planning, LOD definitions (such as the BIMForum LOD Specification), and project BIM standards.
- Well-rounded knowledge across disciplines, with the ability to model, review, and coordinate process, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural work rather than specializing in a single trade.
- Understanding of typical utility routing strategies, installation spatial requirements, clearances, and typical system components and devices.
- Understanding of how individual discipline models interact within a larger federated project model.
- Advanced Revit and BIM troubleshooting skills, including model performance, work sharing, linking, and file health issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical BIM issues clearly to engineers, project managers, clients, and contractors.
- Comfortable leading multidisciplinary coordination meetings, both internally and with outside project partners.
- Highly organized, with the ability to track coordination items, deadlines, and priorities on large projects while staying productive in modeling.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to model organization, accuracy, consistency, and overall quality.
- Familiarity with plumbing, process piping, HVAC, electrical, and structural systems.
- Experience with Dynamo, scripting, or Revit add-in development is a plus.
- Familiarity with semiconductor facility modeling is a plus.
Education and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting & Design Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, Engineering Design Technology, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 7+ years of professional Revit modeling experience, including at least 3 years in a BIM Coordinator, Project BIM Lead, or similar role.
- Required: Expert-level proficiency in Revit and Navisworks Manage.
- Required: Demonstrated experience performing model coordination and clash detection, and leading clash resolution on multidisciplinary projects using Navisworks Manage and ACC / Forma Model Coordination.
- Required: Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / Autodesk Forma, including cloud worksharing, Design Collaboration, and Model Coordination.
- Highly preferred: Experience serving as the BIM Lead or BIM Coordinator on large, complex projects, managing the project model, coordination, and clash detection from kickoff through construction documents.
- Experience setting up project models and developing BIM Execution Plans for assigned projects.
- Experience modeling and coordinating across multiple disciplines, rather than a single trade, is strongly preferred.
- Experience developing construction documents from Revit models.
- Experience working within an engineering consulting, MEP, construction, or design-build environment is preferred.
- Experience working with 3D laser scans, point clouds, or existing-condition models is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD drafting.
- Experience with semiconductor, advanced technology, industrial, manufacturing, data center, or other technically complex facilities is a plus.
- Autodesk certifications (such as Revit Certified Professional) are a plus.
Please describe your experience as a BIM Coordinator or Project BIM Lead, including the types and sizes of projects you have led, the disciplines you have modeled, and your experience with clash detection and model management. Please also identify other relevant skills, such as modeling and drafting in other software, Navisworks, ACC / Forma, automation, or 3D laser scanning. Samples of past work are welcome. Please include any past work or volunteer experience, including experience that may be non-engineering related.
