Senior Bioinformatics Software Developer // Remote UK // £60,000
What if the software you built could help doctors choose the right cancer treatment for a patient? 🩺
I'm working with a VC-backed biotech company that's developing technology to do exactly that.
They're using advanced proteomics and bioinformatics to help predict which cancer treatments patients are most likely to respond to.
And this isn't just an early-stage research idea.
They've already demonstrated their technology in clinical settings, secured partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies and are now moving towards turning their research into a commercial clinical product.
That's where you come in.
They're looking for a Bioinformatics Software Developer to join their small engineering team and play a key role in taking their technology to the next stage.
Rather than maintaining an existing product or being one of hundreds of developers, you'll have the opportunity to help shape software that could eventually be used to improve cancer treatment decisions.
Why would you want to join?
- Real-world impact: Build software that could directly influence how cancer patients are treated.
- An exciting stage to join: The technology has already been proven in clinical research, and the next challenge is turning it into a commercial product.
- Genuine ownership: Join a small engineering team where your ideas and technical decisions will actually matter.
- Interesting technical challenges: Work across C/C++, complex biological datasets, databases, pipelines and clinical software development.
- Flexibility: Work remotely from anywhere in the UK, with occasional company meetups.
What's on offer?
- Up to £60K base
- Remote UK working
- Share options
- 25 days holiday + option to buy more
- Small, collaborative engineering team
- Direct access to senior leadership
What do you need?
- Strong C/C++ development experience
- Experience working with bioinformatics or omics data
- Experience building production-ready software
- Knowledge of databases, ideally MySQL
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows
- Understanding of CI/CD, automation and data pipelines
Experience with proteomics, Python, R or regulated medical software would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
The key thing?
They're looking for a strong software engineer who understands bioinformatics, rather than a bioinformatician who happens to code.
