The Role:
Brook Green Supply (BGS) is a leading independent B2B energy supplier, delivering tailored energy supply and Net-Zero solutions to industrial and commercial consumers.

Reporting to the Trading Director, the Biomethane Trader will take primary responsibility for trading biomethane certificates across UK and European markets. You will also support trading in UK renewable certificates, including REGOs and ROCs, and European Guarantees of Origin (GOs).

The role offers exposure to physical gas and power markets and UK compliance carbon trading through the wider desk. You will identify commercial opportunities, manage positions within agreed risk limits and contribute to a growing RGGO-backed supply and market-making offering.

This role suits a commercially minded trader with direct renewable certificate experience who wants to specialise in biomethane markets while maintaining strong links to underlying energy markets.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Trade biomethane certificates across the UK and Europe, including relevant UK and EU schemes, identifying spread, arbitrage and market-making opportunities.
  • Support the development of Brook Green’s RGGO-backed supply and market-making proposition.
  • Support the securing and maintenance of certification status, including ISCC and other relevant schemes.
  • Develop and execute trading strategies across certificates, gas and power, identifying cross-border and cross-commodity opportunities.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments affecting biomethane, REGOs, ROCs and GOs, and assess their commercial impact.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with brokers, counterparties, suppliers and relevant industry bodies.
  • Manage trading positions and exposures within agreed desk limits, working closely with Risk, Credit and Operations teams.
  • Provide market intelligence, pricing views and recommendations to Trading and Commercial colleagues.
  • Identify new products, markets and trading opportunities as renewable certificate markets develop.
  • Provide trading cover for REGOs, ROCs and GOs when required.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Approximately two to five years’ experience trading energy commodities, including direct exposure to REGOs, ROCs, GOs or biomethane and biogas certificates.
  • Working knowledge of UK and European gas or power markets; physical trading experience is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the UK and EU regulatory frameworks underpinning renewable certificate schemes.
  • Experience managing trading risk, positions and profit and loss within defined risk limits.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence using pricing models and market data tools.
  • Commercial judgement and an ability to identify trading opportunities in developing markets.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills with brokers, counterparties and industry stakeholders.
  • Self-directed and adaptable, with an interest in developing trading approaches as markets evolve.
  • A degree in finance, economics, engineering or a related subject is desirable; equivalent relevant trading experience is welcomed.

Brook Green Supply is committed to ensuring equal opportunities, fairness of treatment, dignity and respect, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination in the workplace for all employees/contractors and job applicants.
