Job Description:

The Branch Training, Fleet, and Compliance Manager will create a safer workplace through individualized training, collaboration, processes, and procedures. Promote a culture of safety and accountability through training and action, starting on day one of new team members’ tenure.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:    

  

Monthly:

  • Complete a minimum of 10 team member spot check safety evaluations monthly. This is a process where the Training and Compliance manager will check in with an SP unannounced at a stop. They’ll spot check the vehicle to ensure that the vehicle is organized, locked, and SP is wearing all appropriate PPE and in Modern uniform. This check will include an inspection of the days GPS and Roscoe camera activity to ensure compliance with Modern’s safe driving policies. There will be a short report of findings that will need to be filled out for every audit.
  • Ensure that all GPS and Roscoe devices are functioning properly and the branch is compliant with companies 98% functionality goal.
  • Will ensure all company and SP licenses are updated in PestPac to maintain compliance with DEEP and MDAR.
  • Spot check 15 vehicles each month to ensure that all vehicles have insurance forms, vehicle registrations, fire extinguishers, spill kits and accident SOPs.
  • Investigate any incidents involving SP injury and report as to how it could have been prevented.
  • Train all new hires and be their point of contact for their first 30-45 days at Modern. This will include prepping new team members for state pesticide exams, teaching company SOPs, and educating on branch policies and protocols. The idea is a more attentive and personalized but also consistent training program. SPs will continue to report to the training manager until they’re ready to be released to the road, at which point they’ll be assigned to an SM.
  • Write and update Hartford’s CT supervisory instructions and ensure SPs are remaining compliant.
  • Ensure all vehicle maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner. Track oil change intervals to ensure SP compliance.
  • Work with BM to maintain roster compliance with DEEP via ELicense portal.
  • Inspect equipment at office and on trucks to make sure it’s properly working and does not pose a hazard if put into the field.

Annual and as needed responsibilities

  • Ensure all team members complete annual training requirements.
  • Complete annual ladder, PPE, and equipment inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Ensure all vehicles have completed state inspections, oil changes, emissions, and comply with all regulations.
  • Work with Modern fleet manager to correct vehicle registration issues (IE vehicles registered out of state).
  • Review and update branch procedures and SOPs based on incident findings, new best practices, and changes in state regulation.
  • Work with Modern’s training team to create new SOPs and procedures when new products and services are rolled out.
  • Plan and conduct supervisory license training in the winter each year to give longer tenured team members a chance to grow and obtain additional licensing.
  • Assist with the integration of acquisition employees and help ensure a smooth transition to Modern.
  • Put together periodic 30–60-minute trainings on branch management approved topics for both newer and more tenured employees outside of Spring and Fall training.
  • Work with BM on future vehicle planning including the addition of new vehicles, sale of old vehicles, and the cancellation of expired leases.
  • Work with Modern’s Training Director, Fleet Manager, and HR to assist with roll out of all new safety and fleet initiatives.

​​Qualifications and Education Requirements​

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • CT Supervisory Licensing in Category 7A, 7D, with 7B preferred.
  • MA Cat 41 License.
  • Previous training and management experience preferred.
  • Previous HR or safety officer experience preferred.

  • Must possess very strong decision-making ability, be able to successfully think through complex situations to reach the best decision and must be able to adapt at “thinking outside the box”.  
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate without managerial authority   
  • Must have very strong organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills.   
  • Must be extremely dependable, honest and have excellent work ethic.   
  • Must be detail and quality oriented.  
  • Must have excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft products (Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint).  
  • Must be able to work in a team-based office environment.  

Physical Requirements 

  • Hybrid schedule of 1-2 days of onsite work required weekly to foster team collaboration and communication. This blend of remote and in-office work is designed to optimize flexibility and productivity, offering a balanced approach to team engagement and independent project management.      
  • Requires constant (67% - 100% of the time) sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, stretching, and writing.      
  • Requires occasional travel.
