Salary Range: $24.04 To $24.04 Hourly

Primary Function: The Brand Communications Coordinator supports the Barnes Foundation and Calder Gardens through a combination of communications, social media, project coordination, and administrative responsibilities. Reporting to the Lead Director of Communications, the coordinator plays a central role in executing public relations and earned media initiatives, including developing press materials, supporting media outreach, coordinating press activity, and tracking coverage.

The coordinator also creates and executes social media content in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Brand and Creative Strategy and provides operational support across the Brand Department. This role coordinates departmental administrative needs and proactively traffics marketing and communications design projects, and ensures public-facing work is accurate, organized, and delivered on schedule.

Job Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, social media, or a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, art history, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt content for media, social platforms, and audiences. Excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Familiarity with social media publishing and content creation; basic photography or short-form video experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Philadelphia and arts & culture media landscape
  • Experience in a museum, cultural, educational, or nonprofit organization, or demonstrated interest in art and culture, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaborative project-management tools. Experience with media databases or monitoring platforms such as Cision and social media management platforms such as Sprout Social is a plus.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for media events, programs, and social content coverage.

Moving:

  • Approximately 80%+ of time is spent seated while working at a desk.
  • Ability to occasionally transport up to 25 lbs. of files, equipment or supplies. Ability to move to access files, equipment or supplies.

Communication Requirements:

  • Clearly communicate in person, by phone, and by video conference.
  • Communicate with others in conversational and written English.

Working Conditions:

  • Position operates in hybrid work setting comprised of the Barnes’ Philadelphia campus and remote work setting indicated by the employee at their documented home address.
  • Position requires extended time on the computer.
