Senior / Intermediate Modeller, Bridges & Civil Structures | Sydney & Newcastle

Want to bring ideas to life?

At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. We are thinkers, solvers, and collaborators who work with our clients to deliver the infrastructure and assets that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future.

How will your ideas contribute to shaping what’s next?

Join our NSW/ACT Bridges & Civil Structures team, based in our Sydney or Newcastle office, and help shape the digital delivery of bridge and civil structures projects across NSW, ACT and Australia. Our team has a strong track record in large-scale transport infrastructure projects, including road and rail bridges, complemented by a diverse portfolio of civil structures delivered for a wide range of clients and sectors such as defence, renewable energy, water and ports.

With a strong pipeline of work extending well into 2027, you'll also be joining a Bridges & Civil Structures community that includes some of Australia and New Zealand's best practitioners, with many opportunities to work alongside them and develop your skills via their guidance and mentorship.

As a Senior / Intermediate Bridge Modeller, you’ll work predominantly within our Bridges team, partnering closely with bridge engineers, designers and other technical specialists to develop high-quality models and design documentation to develop practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.

You’ll bring strong technical modelling capability and a practical understanding of how bridge designs come together, taking ownership of modelling and documentation packages and helping our teams deliver coordinated, constructable and high-quality solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and take ownership of coordinated 3D models, drawings and documentation packages for bridges and associated civil structures across concept, detailed design and construction support phases.
  • Work closely with engineers to translate engineering concepts and calculations into accurate, practical and constructable design outputs.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines through model reviews, design sessions and technical workshops to resolve interfaces, clashes and other issues early.
  • Apply relevant project, client and industry standards while supporting efficient BIM and digital engineering workflows.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed project teams.
  • Guide developing modellers and designers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement across the NSW/ACT Bridges team and Aurecon’s broader digital and technical community.

We're open to applicants at intermediate or senior level, and the scope of the role will reflect your experience. We work flexibly and are happy to discuss part-time working arrangements.

What are we looking for from you?

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative mindset and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges.

You'll ideally have experience in:

  • 3D modelling and documentation of bridges and civil structures across different stages of design and project delivery within a consulting, infrastructure or similar engineering environment.
  • Advanced use of modelling and design software such as Revit and AutoCAD, with experience in other bridge, structural or civil modelling platforms, or visual programming tools such as Dynamo, considered advantageous.
  • Working closely with structural engineers to interpret designs and produce accurate, detailed and constructable models and drawings.
  • Managing complex modelling and documentation packages, including multidisciplinary BIM coordination, interface management and clash resolution.
  • Applying an understanding of structural arrangements, detailing principles and constructability requirements to deliver coordinated, high-quality work.
  • Communicating effectively within multidisciplinary teams, supporting technical and quality reviews, and helping develop less experienced modellers and designers.
  • Taking ownership of your work, proactively resolving issues and contributing ideas that improve digital delivery, automation, integration with emerging technology, and project outcomes.
  • You’ll bring a relevant technical qualification in engineering, civil or structural drafting, design, BIM or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

How we support your growth

We believe your career should be a rewarding adventure. You will tackle some of the world’s most complex infrastructure challenges, in an environment that supports your ambitions, where we hold ourselves, and each other, to the highest standards.
