Position Summary

The Manager, Business Analysis & Testing will play a central role in how Finance engages with and validates cross-functional technology and system initiatives — moving business analysis and testing from an ad hoc, localized activity into a standardized, well-governed practice. This role is centered on requirements definition, testing governance, and technology enablement, representing Finance's needs on enterprise projects that span multiple business areas and systems — such as core system upgrades, data platform implementations, and similar cross-functional initiatives.

Serving as both a hands-on business analyst and the architect of a more mature Finance capability, this person will gather and validate requirements in partnership with Finance leadership and key stakeholders and will work closely alongside product and development teams to ensure requirements are well understood, appropriately tested, and successfully delivered. This role owns the requirements definition, testing rigor, and delivery quality that inform and support operational decisions. This includes establishing standardized processes, templates, and best practices that improve consistency, efficiency, and auditability across the enterprise projects and systems Finance depends on.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Finance leadership and key stakeholders (e.g., the Controller, process owners, and subject matter experts) to gather, validate, and document business and systems requirements for technology and process initiatives — ensuring requirements reflect input from the people who own the processes.
• Serve as the business/functional lead on assigned project initiatives — the primary liaison for business requirements and testing readiness.
• Establish and maintain a regular cadence (e.g., biweekly) with the Controller and Accounting leadership to ensure ongoing alignment, gather input, and maintain engagement on requirements, testing, and process initiatives that affect Accounting.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications, working closely with IT and implementation partners to ensure delivered solutions meet the intended business outcome.
• Design and author robust, reusable test scripts and test plans, and execute testing across system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements — building documentation that can be handed off for augmented UAT or knowledge transfer.
• Design, stand up, and continuously improve a structured intake and evaluation process for assessing the requirements, feasibility, and testing needs of new technology solutions and process changes that impact Finance — establishing standardized processes, templates, and best practices that improve consistency, efficiency, and auditability, and laying the foundation for a Finance Center of Excellence in business analysis and testing.
• Educate and build buy-in among Finance and cross-functional stakeholders on new standards and processes, ensuring consistent adoption and execution over time.
• Serve as a lead business analysis and testing resource on major cross-functional system and process initiatives as they arise — such as core system upgrades, data platform implementations, and other enterprise projects — representing Finance's requirements and testing needs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across IT and business teams to ensure alignment, transparency, and progress on system and process initiatives.
• Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations to Finance leadership and product/technology partners to help inform strategic technology and process decisions.
• Identify opportunities to modernize and streamline finance processes and systems, bringing a forward-looking, technology-informed perspective.
• Act as a liaison between finance stakeholders and IT/vendor teams to ensure requirements are accurately understood and delivered.
• Support change management, training, and adoption for new systems and process changes.
• Provide coordinated project support across multiple concurrent cross-functional initiatives.
• Assumes other responsibilities as assigned or needed.

• Finance has a repeatable, well-documented process for evaluating and testing new technology solutions and process changes — replacing ad hoc, one-off approaches.
• Finance is viewed as a credible, prepared, and organized partner in cross-functional system and process initiatives, with clear requirements and thorough testing consistently delivered on time.
• Leadership and cross-functional stakeholders — including VPs and Executive Team members, as relevant — have confidence in this person's judgment and can rely on them to drive initiatives forward with minimal oversight.

Core Competencies

• Strong technology acumen in a finance context; ability to understand and work with data and data flow across integrated systems.
• Demonstrated experience gathering and validating business/systems requirements in close partnership with stakeholders and translating them into functional and technical specifications.
• Test strategy design, script authoring, execution, and defect management across system implementations and enhancements.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively across IT and business teams.
• Proven ability to define their own approach and drive work independently, with minimal oversight.
• Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities and limited established process.
• Process improvement and modernization mindset; able to design structured, repeatable processes (e.g., intake, evaluation, governance) where none currently exist.
• Experience establishing or contributing to standards, templates, and best practices that bring consistency to business analysis or testing work — prior exposure to a Center of Excellence or similar governance model a plus.
• Poised and credible communicating and partnering with senior stakeholders, in addition to day-to-day partners in IT and business.
• Familiarity with project management fundamentals; experience partnering with IT/product/dev roles on system initiatives.

Tools & Technologies

• Strong technology proficiency in relation to finance systems and data; specific platform experience is less important than the ability to learn new systems quickly and understand how data flows between them.
• Experience with enterprise ERP and/or planning platforms a plus (e.g., Oracle Cloud ERP or similar).
• Comfortable working with reporting and data tools.
• Test management/work-tracking tools (e.g., Jira or similar).
• Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 7-10+ years of experience in business/systems analysis, technology implementation, or software testing/QA within a finance or similarly regulated environment, including experience operating at a senior or lead level rather than purely execution-focused work.
• Demonstrated experience working across multiple business systems or technology platforms.
• Experience partnering with IT, product, and development teams on cross-functional system implementations.
• Demonstrated track record of operating with a high degree of autonomy — defining their own approach and driving initiatives forward with limited day-to-day direction.
• Insurance industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience establishing or contributing to a formal Center of Excellence, governance function, or similar standards-setting capability.
• Experience supporting or managing system implementation projects end-to-end, from requirements and design through testing, go-live, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Prior people leadership or informal team-lead experience a plus, though this role is currently an individual-contributor position.

• Remote: This role is 100% remote, open to candidates currently located in the United States who are able to work without sponsorship.
• Requires a private, quiet workspace suitable for focused work and video collaboration.
• Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the needs of the role and organization, and may be adjusted as needed.
• Travel: Occasional travel to off-site locations for meetings may be required.
