Company Background
Join a leading private wealth organisation that combines global scale with a deeply personal, client first approach. The business is undertaking a significant regulatory and remediation program, including a large scale uplift of its AML framework to European standards, client data remediation and regulatory reporting change. You’ll be part of a collaborative Delivery team working alongside Compliance, Risk, Operations, Data and Technology
About The Role
As a Business Analyst, you’ll sit at the centre of this program, turning regulatory obligations and complex client data into clear business requirements, operational controls and management insight. You’ll interpret frameworks such as European AML standards and CRS 2.0, analyse client and account data including trusts, corporate trustees and beneficial ownership structures, and build the dashboards that give senior stakeholders visibility of remediation progress, data quality and control effectiveness. It’s a hands on role bridging regulatory, data and technology perspectives in an Agile delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage Compliance, Risk, Operations and business stakeholders to understand regulatory obligations and gaps against current practice
- Interpret regulatory and policy frameworks (European AML standards, CRS 2.0 or similar) and convert them into control objectives, process requirements and measurable, testable controls
- Map current and target state processes, identifying control gaps, overlaps and opportunities to simplify, and document control designs and procedures to a standard suitable for audit and regulatory review
- Analyse and interpret complex client and account data, including trusts, corporate trustees, beneficial owners and related party structures
- Profile data quality, identify gaps and exceptions, and define rules for classifying, cleansing and remediating client records, including reconciliation, sampling and QA of remediation outcomes
- Define data requirements, mappings and lineage between source systems and regulatory or reporting outputs
- Build dashboards and MI (Power BI, Tableau or similar) to track remediation progress, data quality, exceptions and control performance, and provide insight to the program, senior management and governance forums
- Break requirements down into sprint ready user stories with clear acceptance criteria, support the Product Owner with Epic breakdown and story sizing, and act as the day to day interface between developers, testers and the business
- Help the test team define test plans and cases across application, data and business process testing, traced back to requirements, controls and user stories
- Prepare stakeholder communications, deliver demos and training, and support Project Managers in planning and implementing regulatory initiatives
About You
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst or similar, ideally within wealth management
- Experience on regulatory, compliance or remediation programs such as AML/CTF, KYC, CRS/FATCA or client data remediation
- Able to interpret regulatory frameworks and translate them into requirements, controls and testable acceptance criteria
- Strong data analysis skills in SQL and advanced Excel, comfortable profiling and interrogating large, complex datasets
- Experience building dashboards and MI in Power BI, Tableau or similar
- Understanding of client entity and ownership structures (trusts, corporate trustees, beneficial ownership) highly regarded
- Experience with process mapping, user stories and Agile delivery, with working knowledge of JIRA
- Exposure to wealth management platforms or wealth products
- Degree qualified, with relevant certifications in business analysis, data analytics or AML/compliance a bonus
- Logical, methodical and detail focused, curious about data and able to explain it simply to non technical audiences, and discreet when handling sensitive client information
Company Culture
You’ll join a business that values challenging convention, earning trust, pursuing perfection and winning as one team, with a genuine commitment to ongoing development and keeping your accreditations current. The role offers hybrid working with 3 days per week in the Sydney or Melbourne CBD office.
