Business Analyst – MTN South Africa

Location: MTN Head Office, Fairlands, Roodepoort, South Africa

Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a major enterprise project at MTN South Africa.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in business requirements gathering, stakeholder management, process analysis, Agile delivery and facilitating workshops. The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, architects, developers and testers to ensure successful end-to-end project delivery.

Placement specific experience required:

• Minimum 5 years Business Analysis experience within large, complex enterprise environments.

• Proven experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation and traceability across the

full project lifecycle.

• Proven experience in information and data analysis and data mapping.

• Demonstrate experience producing business analysis artefacts including RDS, User Stories, Epics,

Features, Acceptance Criteria, Process Models, Data Requirements, Requirements Specification Matrices,

UAT Test Plans and Test Cases.

• Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops, requirements sessions, design-thinking workshops and

cross-functional engagements.

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior management,

business owners, architects, developers, test teams, vendors and project leadership.

• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall or hybrid delivery environments, including backlog

management, sprint planning and user story development.

• Proven experience in documenting and analising as-is and to-be business processes, identifying process

improvement opportunities and supporting business transformation initiatives.

• Experience defining business rules, data requirements, reporting requirements, KPIs and management

information needs.

• Working knowledge of business analysis tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, Confluence, Visio,

SharePoint and Microsoft 365. Experience with ARIS, PowerBI, SQL or data analysis tools with be

advantageous.

• Demonstrated ability to perform impact assessments, gap analysis, solution evaluations and change

assessments across business, process, technology and data domains.

• Strong analytical thinking, facilitation, communication, problem-solving, negotiation and stakeholder

engagement skills.

Skills Required:

Education:

• Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in relevant discipline.

• Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or equivalent aligned to BABOK.

• Working towards Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent aligned to

BABOK, advantageous but not essential.

• Certification in Design Thinking Frameworks is required.

• Relevant Agile qualification is required (SAFe, or scrum, Kanban agile foundation course).

• Facilitation certification is essential.

• Six Sigma certification will be an advantage.

• Fluent in English.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' business analysis in solution development lifecycle projects/programmes.

• 2 years Facilitation experience is essential.

• Proven experience in facilitating white-boarding sessions with cross-functional teams and

working on large-scale technology projects.

• At least 2 years’ experience working in an Agile environment is essential.

• At least 3 years’ experience in design thinking, prototyping and user journeys.

• Written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills.

• Understanding of systems engineering concepts.

• The ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis.

• Business case development.

• Experience in Modelling techniques and methods is required.

Working/project experience advantage:

• Previous experience working on complex projects will be a strong advantage.

• A strong understanding of good Customer Experience principles is an advantage.

• Experience in a telecommunications environment is advantageous but not essential.

Experience in the following will be considered a definite advantage:

• Principles of quality standards ISO9000, 9002, Six Sigma, CMMi, COBIT.

• Principles of leading practice process and operational frameworks: e-TOM, SCOR, DCOR,

CMAT.

• Principles of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks: Zachman, TOGAF, NGOSS.

• Process repository modelling tools e.g. ARIS, Casewise, Visio, Abacus etc.

Mandatory Certifications

CCBA or an equivalent certification aligned with BABOK.

Design Thinking certification.

Relevant Agile certification (SAFe, Scrum or Kanban).

Facilitation certification.

Good to Have

CBAP certification or working towards CBAP.

Six Sigma certification.

Experience with ARIS, Power BI, SQL or other data analysis tools.

Experience in telecommunications.

Knowledge of ISO 9000, Six Sigma, COBIT, TOGAF, Zachman or e-TOM frameworks.

Experience with complex enterprise transformation projects.
