Length: 6-month contract, full time
Project: Cards modernisation, merchant acquiring
Location: Auckland
Working Arrangement: Hybrid, 2 to 3 days onsite per week
About the Role
Our client in the banking sector is modernising its merchant acquiring capability, with pilot and migration kicking off soon, and they need two Business Analysts to help land it.
You’ll join a team of BAs in the Payments Tribe, working across squads as requirements evolve. One role will finalise merchant onboarding requirements, process and automation with the business. The other will partner with operations teams to define the reporting they’ll rely on through pilot, migration and into BAU. Priorities will shift. Your job is to keep people aligned and turn ambiguity into something the squad can build.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to define and finalise requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Map current and future state processes, spotting pain points, control gaps and opportunities to simplify and automate.
- Work with technical teams so requirements are clear, feasible and traceable, covering data, business rules, integration and workflow.
- Define operational reporting needs with operations teams ahead of pilot and migration.
- Coordinate with fellow BAs and across squads, managing dependencies as scope changes.
- Run workshops, walkthroughs and decision forums that drive clarity and keep the right people in the room.
- Help manage RAID items and support backlog shaping and prioritisation.
- Support test planning and execution, and prepare the business for change through procedures, training and BAU handover.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst on large, complex delivery programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management across business, operations and technology.
- Solid process management skills, including current and future state mapping.
- Sharp requirements definition, from workshops through to user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Comfort with changing requirements and coordinating across multiple squads.
- Experience supporting testing, migration and operational readiness.
- Payments, cards or merchant acquiring experience (highly advantageous).
- Financial services background (advantageous).
