About the Role

Disruptive IT is looking for an experienced Data Analyst / Business Analyst – Data Products for a 6-month contract opportunity based in Sandton.

The role will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, architecture teams and BI/data development teams, ensuring that business requirements, calculations, KPIs, dimensions, relationships and data definitions are accurately translated into enterprise data products.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in business analysis, data analysis, data modelling, ERDs, requirements gathering and data governance.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to gather and validate reporting, analytics and data requirements.

Translate business requirements into structured data requirements and business rules.

Identify inconsistencies and conflicts in business definitions and facilitate resolution.

Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models.

Develop and maintain detailed Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).

Define entities, attributes, relationships, cardinality, hierarchies and business rules.

Maintain business glossaries, KPI definitions and metadata.

Establish traceability between business requirements, data models and delivered reporting solutions.

Support BI and development teams through design, development, testing and deployment.

Validate delivered solutions against approved business requirements.

Maintain data lineage, ownership and governance documentation.

Support business data-quality assessments and issue resolution.

Participate in architecture and data-model review processes.

Create and maintain user stories, process maps, source-to-target mappings and business-rule catalogues.

Help standardise calculations and reporting definitions across the organisation.

Experience Required

5–8 years' experience in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Business Intelligence or Data Modelling.

Proven experience translating business requirements into data and analytics solutions.

Experience producing detailed ERDs and logical data models.

Experience working with stakeholders on reporting, analytics or data-transformation initiatives.

Experience supporting development teams throughout the solution-delivery lifecycle.

Experience documenting business rules, KPIs, calculations and data lineage.

Experience working within Agile or iterative delivery environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in:
