Opportunity

At AIMCo, technology is a key enabler of investment success. As a Business Analyst, Front Office Technology & Business Delivery, you will be part of a cross-functional DevOps team supporting AIMCo’s investment teams.

Working closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Analysts, Risk Managers, and other investment professionals, as well as Lead Business Analysts, Business System Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance teams, and business stakeholders, you will elicit and document business requirements, define functional specifications, support testing activities, and ensure business and technology teams remain aligned.

You will contribute to enhancements and defined components of larger initiatives with limited oversight, applying your knowledge of capital markets products and the investment lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a collaborative, curious problem solver with capital markets or investment management experience who enjoys working directly with investment professionals and is looking to grow at the intersection of investments, business processes, data, and technology.

** This role will close at 11:59 pm MST on November 10, 2026**

What You Will Do

  • Support the delivery of technology solutions across the full investment lifecycle, including trade capture, lifecycle events, settlement, collateral, position and cash management, valuation, and risk.
  • Collaborate with portfolio management, trading, investment analytics, risk, compliance, operations, and technology stakeholders to understand business needs and change objectives.
  • Translate user needs into clear business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories, building your understanding of product mechanics and the trade lifecycle.
  • Support defined phases of the delivery lifecycle for initiatives and enhancements, including requirements definition, design support, testing, implementation, and deployment.
  • Investigate trade, position, valuation, data, and process issues, documenting findings and supporting root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Analyze use cases and capital markets workflows to support solution options and development activities.
  • Document stakeholder requirements clearly and accurately, including relevant business rules, data requirements, interfaces, and reconciliation needs.
  • Define test scenarios and acceptance criteria, support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and validate results against expected business outcomes.
  • Create and refine product backlogs, features, process documentation, and user stories.
  • Identify and support business process and technology improvements.
  • Build awareness of industry trends, market practices, and regulatory changes affecting the products we support while contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What We Are Looking For

You are a developing Business Analyst with capital markets or investment management experience and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. You are comfortable engaging with investment and technology professionals, asking questions, and working through complex business problems.

You bring a solid foundation in business analysis and an understanding of the investment lifecycle, along with a desire to deepen your product and technology knowledge and take on greater ownership as your experience grows.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2–3+ years of experience in a Business Analyst role within capital markets or investment management, with experience supporting IT solutions across the investment lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of capital markets products, which may include OTC derivatives, equities, fixed income, or private markets, along with an understanding of the trade lifecycle.
  • Understanding of investment book of record concepts (IBOR, ABOR, PBOR) and how positions, cash, and accounting data flow between front, middle, and back office systems.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, or functional specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience investigating business and technology issues such as trade breaks, data discrepancies, and process gaps.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/DevOps delivery methodologies.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with diverse stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and openness to coaching and guidance from senior colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the Canadian or global pension, investment management, or financial services industry.
  • Progress toward or completion of the CFA, CAIA, CSC, or a similar investment or financial designation.

What Success Looks Like

  • Build strong working relationships across investment, risk, operations, and technology teams.
  • Develop a strong understanding of AIMCo’s investment business and the technology that supports it.
