Job Summary

The Business Analyst, Project Controls will support project forecasting and reporting using data analysis, dashboards, and presentation material. The role will assist with cost reviews and forecast updates, analyze project performance and cost trends, and prepare reports and presentations. Reporting to the Cost Control and Contract Administration Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with planning and other departments.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop an understanding of the project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Develop ‘superuser’ level knowledge of the project cost control system, provide training, and support to the project team members as required.
  • Support the Project Control team in the preparation of cost reports, forecasts, accruals, cash flows, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze project commitments and costs at a work package level, assist in identifying trend variances and risks.
  • Review contractor cost and progress information.
  • Develop and maintain Excel based or BI models, dashboards, and tracking tools to improve data analysis and reporting efficiency.
  • Prepare reports and presentations, and executive briefing materials.
  • Support ad hoc business analysis activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting activities reporting processes, data quality, and analytic tools.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Business, or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of project business analysis and/or cost control experience, preferably in capital project environments, during engineering and/or construction phases.

Mining experience is an asset.

  • Proficiency with MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and present complex data for information and decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Work Conditions

This position will initially be based in Toronto, Ontario, with remote work arrangements potentially available. As the project progresses to Construction, the role will transition to regular rotations in Red Lake, Ontario. The schedule for this position is 5X2.

Compensation and Total Rewards

The base salary for the Business Analyst, Cost Control is $100,000.00 to $120,000.00 + Short Term Incentive, + Group Benefit Coverage.
