Business Controller

We are itsme®, one of Europe’s fastest-growing scale-ups, with 150 team members and growing. Our mission: to provide a state-of-the-art digital identity solution for all people, enabling them to interact securely in the digital space. Now, only nine years after being founded, close to 8 million citizens use the itsme® app to identify themselves and sign documents online. Starting in Belgium, we successfully launched the itsme app in 32 European countries, with the ambition of becoming an internationally leading player.

We are currently looking for a Business Controller. You will join a small, hands-on finance team in a scale-up and report to the Finance Manager. Your core is FP&A and business partnering, but you don’t stay in one lane. You work closely with our Business Operations team, the NetSuite and Salesforce experts, to make sure our data is reliable from source to report.

What your job looks like

• FP&A and reporting

You prepare the monthly reporting for management, shareholders and team leads, and explain the story behind the numbers.

You build and maintain budgets and rolling forecasts, and track how changes in the organisation impact them.

You analyse variances and flag what needs attention.

You develop and improve our BI reporting (currently Power BI).

• Business partnering

You are a finance partner for the whole organisation. As a small company, that means working with every department, from operations and sales to product and HR.

You support business cases: you build the financial model, challenge assumptions and help management make the right decision.

You deliver accurate data for cross-departmental projects.

• Support across finance

You step in where the team needs you. Depending on the moment, that means backing up accounting during the close, contributing to tax projects such as the wage withholding tax exemption and the innovation income deduction, or supporting customer billing.

• Data and AI in finance

You help automate and improve finance processes, increasingly using AI tools.

You review AI-generated output critically and make sure what leaves finance is correct.

• You have at least 3 years of experience in audit or controlling.

• You hold a master’s degree in economics, business, accounting or a similar field

• You are accurate. You check your own work and spot inconsistencies quickly.

• You are data driven and comfortable working with large datasets. Experience with BI tools (ideally Power BI), an ERP (ideally NetSuite) and/or a CRM (ideally Salesforce) is a plus.

• You are flexible and like variety. Switching between a forecast, a business case and a tax file in the same week doesn’t scare you.

• You take ownership and work independently, but ask for help when you need it.

• You communicate clearly with non-finance colleagues.

• You speak Dutch and/or French fluently and have a good command of English.
