About Bluebird

We're The Bluebird Group - we're an omnichannel commerce partner that helps brands grow across every retail and digital channel.

We sit at the intersection of retail, eCommerce, media, and data. We help brands show up wherever their customers are (Target, Amazon, Walmart, Costco, Kroger, social commerce like TikTok, and beyond) and drive real sales growth.

We're not just strategists - we're a hands-on team of experienced retail operators who execute across everything from retail media and creative to data, insights, and full go-to-market strategy.

The result: we simplify what's become a really complex retail landscape and help brands scale faster and smarter.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a driven, curious, and entrepreneurial Business Development & Digital Growth Associate to join our business development team. This hybrid growth role combines outbound prospecting, commerce intelligence, AI-enabled research, and hands-on pitch development. You’ll identify and open doors with high-potential brands, uncover where they may be leaving growth on the table, and help turn those opportunities into compelling pitches and new business.

You’ll work closely with our business development and digital leadership teams and gain direct exposure to how agency opportunities are identified, developed, pitched, and closed across Amazon, Walmart, Target, retail media, DTC, and emerging commerce channels. This is not a traditional SDR role. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically, communicate effectively, use data and technology intelligently, and continually find better ways to generate growth.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & Pipeline Generation (45%)

  • Identify, research, and prioritize high-potential brands and decision-makers using defined target criteria, marketplace signals, category trends, and other growth indicators.
  • Execute creative, personalized, multi-channel outreach across LinkedIn, email, phone, Instagram, brand websites, and other relevant channels.
  • Monitor product launches, retail expansion, leadership changes, marketplace activity, industry news, and other signals to create timely and relevant outreach opportunities.
  • Develop messaging and outreach angles tailored to each brand rather than relying solely on templated sequences.
  • Book qualified first meetings with prospective brands and help build a healthy new-business pipeline.
  • Test new prospecting strategies, messaging, channels, and approaches, using performance data to continually improve results.

Growth Intelligence & Prospect Audits (25%)

  • Research prospective brands across Amazon, Walmart.com, Target.com, Instacart, TikTok Shop, DTC, retail media, and other relevant commerce channels.
  • Build prospect audits covering content, search visibility, ratings and reviews, pricing, assortment, competitive positioning, advertising, and marketplace performance.
  • Identify meaningful growth gaps and opportunities that can become conversation starters and potential Bluebird engagements.
  • Conduct competitive and category research to understand how brands compare with key competitors.
  • Partner with our data and insights teams to pull, interpret, and translate marketplace and retail data into actionable insights.
  • Turn raw research into a clear story about where a brand may be leaving growth on the table and how Bluebird can help.

Pitch & Proposal Development (15%)

  • Build and refine pitch decks, capabilities presentations, proposals, and meeting materials aligned with Bluebird brand standards.
  • Translate research, data, and strategy into clear, persuasive visual storytelling.
  • Support prospect meetings with relevant research, talking points, competitive intelligence, and opportunity areas.
  • Help turn successful prospecting conversations into customized proposals and scopes of work.

AI, CRM & Growth Operations (15%)

  • Use AI and automation tools to accelerate prospect research, account intelligence, personalized outreach, competitive analysis, audit development, and meeting preparation.
  • Develop reusable prompts, workflows, templates, and automations that improve the speed and quality of the business development process.
  • Maintain accurate prospect, activity, follow-up, opportunity, and pipeline information in HubSpot.
  • Support CRM workflows, sequences, reporting, pipeline visibility, and overall data hygiene.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate the way we identify, research, engage, and convert prospective clients.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 1–3 years of experience in sales, business development, marketing, eCommerce, retail media, agency work, or a related field. Recent graduates with strong relevant experience and the right drive are encouraged to apply.
  • Hungry, competitive, and motivated by measurable goals and results.
  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful, with the ability to help build the playbook while executing against it.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop messaging that earns the attention of busy brand leaders.
  • Comfortable with outbound prospecting and rejection, with the persistence to follow through without being pushy.
  • Strong curiosity about eCommerce, CPG, marketplaces, digital marketing, and retail media.
  • Comfortable interpreting data and turning information into a clear and compelling business story.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a high volume of outreach while producing detailed research and presentation work.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills with an eye for clean, effective visual storytelling.
  • Experience with or comfort learning CRM platforms such as HubSpot.
  • Comfortable using AI and automation tools and excited to find new ways technology can improve how work gets done.

Optional but Valuable:

  • Hands-on experience with Amazon, Walmart.com, Target.com, retail media, digital advertising, or other commerce platforms.
  • Experience developing pitch decks, proposals, prospect audits, or competitive research.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or a similar CRM platform.
  • Experience using AI and automation tools to support research, prospecting, sales, marketing, or business-development workflows.
