Certrec is seeking a full-time Business Development Executive focused on the New Nuclear Market to develop and grow relationships with companies advancing next-generation nuclear technologies and new nuclear projects.

This position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing opportunities with technology developers, utilities, project developers, engineering firms, investors, and other organizations involved in the licensing, development, construction, and operation of new nuclear facilities. The ideal candidate will combine strong nuclear licensing and regulatory knowledge with the ability to manage complex, consultative sales cycles and translate customer needs into effective Certrec solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

New Nuclear Business Development

  • Develop and execute a strategic business-development plan for the new nuclear market.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of opportunities across the advanced reactor and new nuclear sectors.
  • Identify prospective customers, partners, and influencers across the new nuclear ecosystem, including advanced reactor and SMR companies, utilities, project developers, engineering firms, suppliers, fuel-cycle organizations, and government entities.
  • Partner with Sales Team on market research, prospecting, lead generation, outreach, and relationship development activities, while maintaining primary ownership and accountability for New Nuclear opportunities through the full sales lifecycle.
  • Establish relationships with senior executives, licensing leaders, regulatory affairs teams, project managers, and technical decisionmakers.
  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand customer business objectives, licensing challenges, project schedules, and compliance needs.
  • Represent Certrec at industry events and monitor market trends, competitor activity, regulatory developments, and new nuclear project activity to identify emerging opportunities.

Consultative Sales and Account Management

  • Lead and maintain ownership of New Nuclear opportunities from qualification through proposal development, negotiation, and close, including opportunities generated directly or indirectly.
  • Develop account strategies for key new nuclear prospects and customers.
  • Develop and present tailored solutions for key prospects, partnering with Certrec subject-matter experts to deliver technically accurate proposals, presentations, demonstrations, statements of work, and RFP responses that clearly connect customer needs to measurable value.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, account, activity, and forecast information in the company’s CRM system.
  • Develop pricing and proposal strategies with company leadership and negotiate commercial terms that support Certrec's business objectives.
  • Maintain ongoing customer relationships following close, supporting onboarding, renewals, expansion, and cross-selling opportunities while ensuring commitments are documented and fulfilled.

Internal Collaboration

  • Collaborate with technical, licensing, regulatory, project management, marketing, and executive teams to communicate customer requirements, market intelligence, competitive information, and emerging needs that may inform Certrec's products and services.
  • Contribute to New Nuclear go-to-market strategy, sales forecasting, business reviews, and strategic planning.

Nuclear Licensing Knowledge

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the licensing and regulatory environment for new nuclear facilities, including several of the following:

  • NRC licensing processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • New plant licensing pathways, including early site permits, construction permits, combined licenses, and operating licenses.
  • Advanced reactor and small modular reactor licensing considerations, including regulatory engagement and pre-application activities.
  • Licensing and regulatory documentation, including safety analysis reports, licensing-basis documentation, regulatory commitments, and correspondence.
  • Quality assurance, environmental review, and site characterization requirements.
  • Licensing document management, configuration control, audit readiness, and operational program requirements.
  • Stakeholder interactions among utilities, technology vendors, the NRC, contractors, and other organizations supporting new nuclear projects.

This is not intended to be a purely transactional sales role. Success requires the ability to understand complex nuclear licensing challenges and communicate credibly with the professionals responsible for them.
